Fire spread is meant to be turned off in the region (by using "/rg flag %region% lava-fire deny".) You can also turn it off in the world so the spawn does not burn due to the fact that it has fire. As for the lava going everywhere that was probably caused by the blocks being destroyed by the fire since fire spread wasn't off. Also we do have a world file you can use to make a new schematic so that it is easier to paste in.
The schematic is exactly how the 3D view is so you might want to install AsyncWE or FAWE to paste it alongside worldedit.
