Add a reputation system.

I don't care what it is, but we need to add one. This is a marketplace. Most people already don't consider ratings equal to reputation, so I think this is a good idea.

Ajdin - I understand that getting a system made may cost hundreds, but this is incredibly useful and important to a marketplace.

Also, for all of you saying that this shouldn't be implemented because it may not work out; we're a marketplace. We should have a reputation system in place.

Problem: What about when those idiots would be like: "Please leave trade feedback on my profile (insert profile here)". Wouldn't a new system just result in the same thing?

Solution: Implement extremely strict policies which forbid asking for reputation. Example: Get 15 warning points for asking for reputation.


Problem: This would just get abused because people would make new accounts.

Solution: Implement a system where you have to buy an account upgrade to give reputation.


Problem: This would put more work on the moderator's plates.

Solution: Look at a forum like hackforums, they have less staff than we do and they have a far larger userbase. They manage it just fine.


I figured a system such as the myBB/HF system would work well.

Example:

All premium/supreme users would be able to give 5 reputations a day to prevent abuse.

Premium users could give +1/0/-1

Supreme users could give +3/+2/+1/0/-1/-2/-3


This needs to be implemented. A reputation system of some sort.

They are not considered ratings anymore, they are called "Reactions" though.

First off, just because you are an upgraded member does not guarantee you won't abuse or break any rules.

How does this make anything fair? It may decrease it being abused, but I know some very amazing people who don't hold a Premium or Supreme Account for whichever reason deemed respected.

Do you fail to realize that friends will be helping each other out? Do you also fail to realize, how is this a sorted system - Apparently you have to donate to give more points?
This will still be abused no matter what, I'd rather not see a system like this around our Market at all.

We are not Hack Forums, just because they do it doesn't mean we do it. Just because we are a marketplace does not mean we need one. You may already review another thread or service by simply commenting. Putting a whole dependency on who will have to go first through a deal, and ending with a Scam is pathetic.

I see more cons over pros, I'm voting no.

I forgot to mention, you can only rate somebody once. Even so, it's not going to make too much of an impact when someone has 500+ reputation points and their friend gives them a +1.

Also, M6Gaming, This was just one idea. The suggestion as a whole is to implement some sort of system; never said this had to be the one we implement.

solution 2 - is extremely unfair to non-premium users, and would severely limit the usefullness of the system as a whole
solution 3 - I have no idea exactly how things are at hackforums, but as far as I know none of the mods here are fulltimers. they all have lives of their own. and there's still plenty of complaints mods are slow. This is not Hackforums. their site works differently, and their community is different

The system you suggest as a whole would make supreme users extremely preferential customers, resulting in non-supreme users being almost discriminated against by people trying to gain reputation, because they can give so much less of it.

all in all, it's not going to work. As for moderating them, I could easily make up having done a deal with someone to give them reputation. Enough moderation to prevent that would be scrutiny at the level of a scam report.
Let people use verbalized vouches, and let people that care about vouch count summarize them in their signature.

again, any system WILL be abused. there have been multiple attempts. The vouch rating, which is the most shit so far. The trade feedback system, which requires such heavy moderation we'd need several extra mods.
Other systems have all been suggested and most of them have been debunked similar to this one. If the trade feedback system had been suggested (if it was, I wasn't active in the suggestion section at the time), I would likely have given similar arguments as I gave here.
