Hi,

I have bought services from several configuration sellers on this forum and I have noticed that even the more professional looking ones aren't following accepted business practices. If you offer services...a buyer is going to expect the following:

  1. That you CAN deliver what you promise. If you can't do something just tell us.
  2. Follow the timelines for delivery that you promise.
  3. Don't sell services/say you're an expert if you're just a script kiddie selling common plug ins.
  4. Don't go to karate, McDonalds, watch NetFlix, or visit Auntie Em in the hospital if you're supposed to be working. Work is work. I can't call off my job and expect to keep it. No one pays money for excuses.

Be professional, be honest, be competent, and put your customer first. The first seller on here who can meet those standards will have a client for life!

Bottom line if you charge for something && make a promise you MUST do what you say you will do otherwise you are about as useful as a sack of hot farts. Repeat business isn't going to happen and you won't be successful.

This website should consider stricter standards for sellers because there are a lot of kids on here who are collecting extra skateboard money at legitimate buyer expense and there isn't much protection here.

No I am a new server owner who purchased some services from individuals who shall remain nameless and I am not calling anyone out specifically just noticing a trend from those I have dealt with. I am nice enough to keep up my end of a deal and paid for time put into my server without logging complaints even though I was disappointed.

I paid some GOOD money too, not $3.00 but enough to expect a professional service. All I really ask is that if you take someone's money as a seller and make a promise that you keep it and be professional.

If you're paying "good money" for configs, you might want to ask around before you purchase anything. It seems like you've been ripped off. I usually only ask a dollar or two for my time, and most of the time end up giving configs free. A full config of a server shouldn't cost more than $15-20 to be honest.

Yeah exactly, I paid more than that and didn't get much for it. I seriously need to get to know whose good on here. I will need plenty of help until I learn all the ins and outs of server administration and development.

If their aunt is in the hospital I understand, they also need food and free time. You don't pay for a full time job, don't expect one.

If you have paid for a service from someone on this forum and they haven't provided the service under the conditions you agreed upon, don't hesitate to open up a scam report on the user. While we hate to see scam reports opened, we believe that all of our users deserve justice for situations like this and I encourage you to let us know if you're in a situation like this. That goes for everyone here.

Agreed! I somehwere saw a quote basically saying something like this -"McMarket is a cesspool filled with preteens all trying to on-up each other.."
Also true to some extent eventhough there are alot of legitimate services aswell. Problem is to sort it i guess.
I´ve seen members selling their entire servers with shiny signs and graphics and the allways number one "custom-plugins" sell trick.
Later on having the oportunity to actually look into thoose custom plugins it can very well be that they are very much custombuilt, but also very poorly coded (yes i have hands on experience of this). Of course this not apply to all, but some as i have seen.

To me it all boils down to: Dont buy it if you are not willing to take a risk. Do take the time to get to know the seller by snooping around previous post and sells if you are actually looking into bying the config anyway.

I was looking to buy a config where the seller says it is really good and even offer a test server, so of course i jump on and unfortunatley it is not at all what i am looking for. It was an anticheatconfig where i was able to bypass around 80% of the things the seller listed as "blocked in the config".
But, nothing wrong with the product i guess, but it was simply not what i was looking for.. Therefor i simply dont buy it.

Some users are simply not scammers. They just over-value themselves and in the end, they end up dissapointing the customer. It's not something done with harmful intent, but it happens a lot when you don't appreciate your skills well enough.
I guess that is what the topic is all about: Dont offer to sell something if you are heading of to the karateclass.
Or simply put: Dont copy and paste from the Poizon Lightpack.psd and say you are selling "your custom made graphics".
