Hello, I am looking to get a new custom built PC, and I don't know much about the specs of PCs, so I am looking for some assistance with it. My budget is around $1-1.2k
(ps i have a prebuild rn)

All I know, is that I'm hoping to get either a high end i7, or i9 processor, maybe a 1070ti or 1080 NVIDIA GTX, 2tb storage.
I just need help on what other stuff I would require for it to be an efficient build such as Ram, Motherboard, Cooler, etc

Thanks!

You 100% for intel? AMD has just released some new CPUs and if you can get your hands on say a 5600x it would perform significantly better than most intel cores the same price, in gaming. Also, GPU prices right now are crazy, so if you aren't in urgent need it's probably better waiting. But I will make a list for you and edit this message when I have done it.

Also, I will be building this for gaming and not focusing on productivity or anything. So if you are interested in doing that also please mention it so I can configure it for that also.
Hey, I appreciate your help. I am more focused towards productivity, such as having a lot of applications open at once and my PC handling long uptime hours.

Hey, no problem, well for productivity I would say you would be right in focusing more on your CPU than GPU and luckily the CPU's haven't been affected as much right now - other than the fact most are out of stock. So I did make a part list with an i7 but if you're focusing on productivity maybe go with an i9 as I only just saw this reply now.

I however, did not include a GPU as there was 300USD spare and I thought it would be best to keep an eye on the pre-owned market with the times we are in right now. Here is the list I built: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/xzx3Bc .

I will mention I am in no way a professional and there are probably people out there a lot more informed than me so wait for some other responses if you are unsure, but I would add a little more storage but wanted to leave that up to you as to how much you'd need. Any questions or wanting to know why I picked what I did let me know.
Hey, your response is extremely valued, thank you I appreciate it. I'll inform others of your list and ask them if they think it's also good, and if they all say it's good, I'll make sure to get something like that.

I added you :)

If you're looking for productivity, AMD is the way to go. Intel only has good single-core performance.

Deleted User 108547 Just one more thing, the list says it has compatibility issues.
It's asking me to add a CPU cooler, any reccs for that?

I'll make you a list when I get chance.[DOUBLEPOST=1612174450][/DOUBLEPOST]https://pcpartpicker.com/list/pXQJPV

Here you go. I picked the 5600x, it's a great CPU for productivity and it's AMD (productivity king).

You mentioned you're more productivity based than a gamer, so I added 32GBs of DDR4 ram, you could if you wanted to, spend a little more for better timings. For rendering the 3060ti is a good GPU, if you wanted to spend another $200 you could upgrade to a 3070.

B550 motherboard so you (should) be able to upgrade to future AMD CPUs.

Overall a great system that I would build, with an amazing upgrade path.
