How come 18, 19, 20, 21 year olds and so on seem to have no money?

Pretty much what Ivain said on the first page, also the fact that most people aren't good at money management at that time in their life, yet. Also, as someone with experience : college easily eats away at any funds you try to save up.

Yes, going out and getting take away or a burger is easy, but those meals do add up, and for the same price, you could easily make yourself 2-3 of the same meal by buying the ingredients yourself.
This is another truth I learned the painful way. Seeing your several hundreds of funds VANISH because you were a little too relaxed a little too often when it came to buying food, snacks etc is damn saddening.
And to think that that shit happened to me just from buying a bit too much take-out style food, while there's people my age that party nearly every weekend and spend literal hundreds per month just on alcohol and whatnot.

It's quite clear to me why they don't. It's simple too:

When they receive any money, whether it be a gift or a payment or whatever, they immediately view it as "money to spend" and go buy something with it, be it a Minecraft name or stuff from an irl store (designer shoes? Clothes?) . They don't consider saving it....

Oh yes, we're all quite impulsive aren't we? What a generalisation, smh.

If anything, op's post was a generalisation.

Nobody is saying this is true of everybody. Just a lot of teens

Yes, the question was generalised, but so was your response. It's some teens. Not lots. Some. You can't speak on behalf of people you don't know.

I would advise against doing that, good way to get a lot of hate.

Hi,
I'm 17, from the UK and have a few hundred pounds/dollars. I'm worried as to why people older than me seem to be trying to scraping together like $0.60 or $2 as i've seen.

Do they not have a job? I'm probably going to end up getting an apprenticeship in a few months time after i finish college and so are others in the UK (or go onto employment, university or Further Education). I'm just worried as to why people in their twenties seem to have nothing.

Why can't they go get a job ? A full time job? Even if they had no qualifications, at least a part time job?

Explain please.
I have a job, I am 18.. However, I have the following bills:

Car Payment
Insurance
Food
Clothes
(Taxes are just a bill to me)
As well as hang out with friends etc.. (Which does not always cost money but on occasion we go out and do something fun.)

Not to mention 18-21 is the PRIME age for a 4 year degree in college.. So, debt is approaching.

I have 2 job's, but I still need money, and tend to go broke from time to time. Right now, I have around 200$ or so, however that is all for my car payments etc.. Spendable money I have around 35$... Give or take a few dollars.. So, it's not that we are broke, we just have more things to pay for, and have a lot more bills than a minor.

As for why "people in their twenties have nothing", they care more about partying, and drinking than getting their life together.. They rack up a few DUI's, perhaps some speeding tickets, and any job that is a "Delivery Driver", they lost ALL shots at getting. Not to mention, some jobs do not want to see ANYTHING DUI, Drugs etc... on your record.. So, you lose some job opportunities that way.. Also, when they were younger they were never taught how to save money, so they still in their twenties can not save money to save their life..

This is more geared towards people from the US, as I do not live in the UK, so I do not know anyone's life style there etc. :p
