It's months from now, save up your own money and then offer to pay for yourself and see if your parents change their mind.

They're more worried about time, not money,

It's their choice, go to a kid convention or stay home and get drunk or high (preferably both).

Tell them Minecon is an investment, depending on the amount of people that attend, the more money you could make. Simply by waiting a year the cape codes could go for $300 each. If the cape design is better even more. It's really a game of patience, of course this could all not letter depending on how far away you live and the hotel costs. If you're decently close go, if not, it's probably not worth it.

Pretty much worked, but the twist is I gotta scrub the toilet once a week and make homemade lunches and not eating out on campus now

I don't think I've seen a cape sell for more than $500, but then again I'm not in that business. what we're talking about in terms of costs here, however, is closer to $1000 (per person, likely). Transcontinental flight, staying in london (bloody expensive in its own right, think $100 per night being cheap for a 1 person room, assuming you dont want to sleep in a shithole).
I strongly recommend you take a look at the total costs you make and budget them before deciding it's profitable.
