Today we’re very excited to announce that we’ve officially made our first big push into a new platform: Roblox!
Roblox launch
Being a predominantly Minecraft oriented marketplace until now, we took a close look at all the most similar UGC games to decide where to expand next, including Fortnite, Rust, Ark, and many others. We decided to expand into Roblox because we saw how underserved Roblox creators have been until now. Roblox creators have needed to be dependent on marketplaces with slow manual payments, basic features, poor moderation of stolen content, excessive fees, and poor uptime. At BuiltByBit we’re confident that we can solve all of these problems for our new Roblox community and we have a strong track record to prove it.

We have been overwhelmed by the interest and passion shown to us by many of the largest Roblox asset creators. We have already been able to onboard dozens of creators who have submitted over 1,000 resources to the new categories, despite not making our Roblox marketplace publicly accessible until today. Platform changes
Almost everything we’ve been working on for the past few years has been in preparation for this expansion, so we’ve not had to make many changes to our platform or team today. There should not be any major impact on our existing Minecraft, Discord, and Website communities. This new expansion is not a sign that we’ve lost focus on our existing communities; this opportunity to grow provides us with more capital to expand our team and benefit from economies of scale. Recent improvements we've made to the platform include:
Roblox categories
We've added a new Roblox platform page for resources with subcategories for Game setups, Maps, Scripts, Vehicles, Weapons, Models, Clothing, Graphics & UI, Animations & VFX, and Audio. These were added as a starting point and we're going to continue to refine the categories offered over the coming weeks with more feedback from Roblox creators. Our services forum deserves some love too! We've added new forum categories specifically for Roblox including Roblox script development, Roblox building, Roblox modelling, and Roblox animating. Like with resources, we're open to feedback on which additional categories we should add to suit the Roblox community best.
Resource moderation
In our last announcement we teased our new resource approval process, and this was released a couple weeks ago! The new process has resulted in a big boost to the consistency and speed our team has been able to complete our manual approval process of all new resources. Before the new system our average approval time was 3 days, and our average is now just 3 hours! We've brought on Jovic as our full-time Creator Success Manager and he's been doing a fantastic job at keeping approvals fast and creator support quicker than it's ever been.
Today we've also piloted a new step to the resource approval process for Roblox which we're calling a "peer review". We've invited a handful of the most experienced and trusted Roblox creators to be able to view resources in a 24 hour period after moderator approval to flag anything that may be unowned content. Flagged content will not go public until our team has had the opportunity to review the products in question. With our launch into Roblox this step will help us detect and stop the sale of unowned content more confidently while our team lacks the experience to recognise it internally.
Referrals
We've updated the default referral amount from 0% to now be 10% for all new creators. Established creators have received a conversation message explaining that this will be updated for everyone on November 15th. Keeping your split at the new default of 10% is not required, and if you would like to set your rate back down to 0% you are able to do this through the Referrals page of your creator dashboard.
Discord bot
We've added new functionality to our official Discord bot that allows any Discord server owner to earn passive income from referral payments. You can now configure a channel in your server to embed newly published resources, and the embedded resource links automatically use your referral code so that you receive a cut of any purchases. It'll only post products where there creator set a referral commission of at least 10% or if the product is free, and you can configure which categories you want content from.
