I have had this idea for a server for a while now. It popped into my head while I was playing Deer Hunter 2014 on my iPhone. Basically, this would be a server based off of that game, maybe with some changes here and there.
I currently have in mind 4-5 biome ideas. These biomes would be connectable through a hub. In each biome, there would be different missions, towns, and animals.
Biomes:
- Plains - Bobcat, Bison, Zebra, Tiger, etc
- Desert - Camel, Antelope, Gazelle, Cheetah, etc
- Mountain - Goat, Bear, Deer, Elk, etc
- Swamp - Hippo, Cougar, Anaconda, Aligator, etc
- Ocean (possible) - Sharks, Whales, Squid, Tuna, etc
// Another possible idea for animals would be birds... but I'm not quite sure if that would be possible.
Something that would make these biomes extremely hard to make would be places such as "Dens" for bears to spawn. There would be other places such as dens where other animals spawn depending on where you are in a biome. These biomes would have to be coded by a generator that is tied in with the core of the plugin.
This would prevent animals from randomly spawning places.
If a player would be hunting in the free roam world (explained below), and un successfully attacked an aggressive animal, the animal could kill or hurt the player and cause the player to loose points, or coins (explained below).
Animals Textures:
All of the animals mentioned above would have custom 3D models. The toughest part about getting these models would be making models that can move in a 3D form.
An example of these models would be something like: Grizzly Bear
Hopefully, the textures for this server would be a bit more high quality. I also know that the textures would be the most expensive part of this project.. due to their complexity.
Inventory / Shop:
Something that will always be in a players #1 slot would be something such as a chest (3D model). When the chest is right clicked, it would open up a 5 slot GUI with options to enter an inventory or a chest.
The inventory and shop would have the same following selections, users can either view how many of these items they have or they can buy them / more of them.
- Rifles
- Assault Rifles
- Shotguns
- Handguns
- Bows
- Fishing
- Ammo
- Perks
- Coins and Cash
When a player purchases a gun, it will disable purchasing of that gun in the shop.
However, when a player opens up their inventory and goes to perhaps "Rifles" and sees their rifles they own, they can click on the rifle which will open a 9 slot GUI with upgradable parts to gun. Players would be able to upgrade stuff on their equipment by using coins or cash, which would be earned by completing missions or leveling up.
That process will be explained here shortly.
Another key part to the inventory would be the equipping area.
Players will be able to equip two guns, lets say in case one gun runs out of ammunition.
To equip a gun, a player must perhaps have to shift+left click to equip as primary and shift+right the gun to equip as secondary.
Note: Inventory will be accessible by doing something such as /inv or clicking on the inventory slot in their hot bar. Inventories would be universal for all the biomes.
Missions / Leveling System:
Missions will be what creates the economy on this server, along with roaming in the free range world (explained later).
In perhaps a players 9th slot on their hot bar, will be a piece of paper. When clicked, there will be a GUI with different missions that appear, depending on what biome you are on.
The GUI would show the missions details, and rewards.. such as 10xp and 100 coins.
Some missions would be collective, such as killing 10 bears. Others however would transport a player to a part of the world (on a private mission world of course) where a player would have to kill something like 10 bison in 1 minute, in that area the Bison would obviously be running freely across the players screen.
When a player reaches enough XP to upgrade, a player will be given something like +3 cash and X amount of coins per level upgrade.
Leveling will enable players to purchase higher level guns and upgrades.
Free Roam World:
Each biome will have a free roam world, where players can roam around and kill animals freely without JUST doing missions. In the free range world, players can roam around the world, kill animals, explore towns, small missions, etc.
When a player kills an animal in the free range world, nothing will drop. Instead a player will be given X amount of XP and coins.
For each kill, a player will have a certain chance at earning cash, 20 packs of ammunition, etc... and maybe even self/network boosters!
Playing with friends:
As most of you know, one of the most common reasons players join servers is to play with their friends. So, how could players play with their friends on a server like this? We have a solution!
Parties:
While in the free roam world, players would be able to tpa to other players, that way players can roam around and hunt togethor. If a player is in a party with lets say 3 friends, then whenever someone gets a kill, their friends get a % of the rewards. There would obviously be a cap per party to keep people from becoming too op.
Clay Pigeons Game:
A fun game two players would be able to battle their friends with would be a game that would shoot clay pigeons up that fly through the air (using 3D models).
Each player would have a shot gun, and the player that breaks the most clay pigeons in 1 minute wins the game
Real Life Features:
To enhance the game play on the server, and add another element to the server would be the addition of real life features such as hunger, health, and hydration (only applies in the free roam world).
Health:
Lets say your'e hunting, and you come across a puma. You shoot the puma, but only part of its health falls. The puma would attack you and take away at your health. Each player would probably have around ~100 health and could regen about 10 health per 1 minute.
Hunger:
When you are traveling around, looking for animals, your hunger will slowly deteriorate. You can gain hunger by killing animals, or going into town taverns (explained below) and purchasing food (food will be added to your food bar).
Hydration:
Also when walking around, someones hydration level will slowly go down. Someone can hydrate by purchasing water from taverns, or by jumping into water that is in a biome.
Interactive Towns:
While in the free roam world, your health, hunger, and hydration will go down.
A great place to get refueled would be a town. There would probably be around 3-5 towns per biome.
Towns would have taverns, where players can purchase Health, Hunger, and Hydration. In the tavern, there will also be random NPC's that will have exclusive quests in order to keep players active on the server.
Towns would also have gun shops which would include exclusive guns which can only be acquired through a certain town or biome.
A slot in a players inventory, 8th most likely, could be a piece of paper. When clicked, it would show a players position in correspondence to the towns in the biome.
Buycraft:
Obviously, donations are a huge part of a server. Especially for a server of this scale, and that is why I have thought of some good ways to earn donation money.. Many of which being completely following the EULA.
Coins and Cash - Players would be able to purchase coins and cash which would be added to their balance.
Guns - Exclusive guns would be purchasable through the buy craft page. These guns would be superior to many of the other guns that are availably for purchase.
Boosters - These boosters would give players/the network a boost of perhaps 10-25% in coins, xp, etc while in the free range world. These boosters could last for times such as 1h, 3h, and 6h. Depending on the booster bought of course.

FEEDBACK:
As of right now, this is ONLY an idea that I have. If you feel that this would be a good server, please tell me so. If you feel that this isn't a good idea, please also tell me.
Thanks!
Questions:
1) Too create this server with walking animals, would a mod pack have to be installed? Or could a texture pack do the trick?
2) How much do you think this server would cost to create with very high quality?
3) Do you think any popular YouTubers would be interested in recording a series on this server, paid or unpaid?
