I am sick and tired of seeing bullshit posts of brand new users asking for loans/investments. You can argue "just ignore them" but it's still annoying. I think setting a minimum reaction count of 25 and message count of 20 before users are able to create there own threads in that section would reduce the bs by a lot.

SpigotMC does this with certain sections of there forums and it makes the environment a lot cleaner.

The only problem would be rate boosting/post farming.

Minimum account age of one month looks better to me IMO.

Maybe you could add it to the requirements but a lot of Randys who made an MCM account a while ago are just like "hmmm, I don't need this anymore lemme just scam." If they rate/post boost they'll be dealt with accordingly.

To a scammer who isn't stupid, 25 ratings/posts would be much easier to accomplish even without rate boosting. The only way to bypass the 1 month requirement to start a thread in the section would be to make many alts on good unique VPNs and wait a month. However, if a month old account came along that had little activity other than an investment thread, that would raise a red flag and the scam attempt would likely fail.

Both can be bypassed like most systems, but it's a matter of which is harder to bypass, which in this case I believe is the account age rule.

And when was the last time there was such a thing as a "smart scammer?"

Hostage/boxxy have had dozens of accounts made on residential VPNs that don't get flagged and have kept coming back with over the course of a year, successfully scamming hundreds to thousands. They know what they're doing and they're quite good at it.

There are plenty more like Parent, Blur, Cash, Sale etc who aren't the brightest but know how to alt and as a result have scammed people by doing so.

Most people don't know how to alt and get caught. In fact, I just went to the recent investment threads and already banned one ban evader that I found.

Account age still is harder for alters to achieve and get away with scamming.

What about a combination of the two? Account age must be at least 30 days and you must have at least 25 posts in other sections. I personally don't like the idea of using reactions as part of it.

That being said, a user isn't likely to deal with a new user anyway, so this isn't something that I'm personally worried about.

It's more of just a spam thing. I like your idea rocket however I feel although reactions should be part of the requirement as it prevents people from just shit posting to meet the requirements. If the user spends time on there post they will get positive feedback from the community.

If reactions are part of the requirement, they'll just be farmed. As much as I hate it, reactions are used as a sort of reputation system and I'd prefer they be as legit as possible and this wouldn't be encouraging that.

I'm going to have to stick with the fact I want reactions as part of the requirement. If Ajdin changes it that's fine, but as far as my suggestion goes I'd like a minimum reaction count to be set.

That's perfectly fine. You're entitled to your opinion and I'm entitled to mine. :)

I personally think account age is the most crucial thing. It's far harder for a ban evader to have to not be banned in a period of time, as opposed to a post or reaction count :)
I agree with that for sure. Though, a combo of account age and post count is best, in my opinion.

A post minimum would be good BUT:

MCM staff would have to rapidly check what new members were posting to prevent post farming in order to get to this section. Unfortunately I don't think this'd work.
