Notch was smart selling it. He knew.
People say Notch is selfish and greedy. Now he is but that does not mean he isn't smart. He saw what his game was becoming. A glorified lego game for 12 year olds. We need the old days of Alpha and beta back when Adults ruled the game!

I also forgot to mention my Minecon 2013 ticket experience. See I was one of those lucky few souls to actually get to the ticket fill-out page basically meaning you have your tickets reserved. Well about 1 minute after I started inputting info it kicked me and told me they needed to help "Other" customers. In my opinion all they had to do was, well, do nothing... If I wanted a tonne of useless crap that I don't ever use I would get a mod, whereas I just want to play it vanilla. I mean, just look at the new blocks they added in 1.8, the artists clearly didn't spend 5 minutes on them. They're all either very bad art, or old blocks/creatures edited to look like a block. Andesite block is practically stone, Slime block is well... a Slime, and the other two I mean talking of bad art?

losing your account is your own fault. just because the game is changing in a way you don't like doesn't mean it is breaking. everyone has different opinions and lots of people don't like change. a lot of people will be against the new pvp update but that doesn't make the pvp update bad - it's necessary for the evolution of the game. i played the game when it was in alpha (which was only like 4 years ago so i don't know why you're being snobbish about it) and it was far worse then than it is now.
the point of this game was never pvp, and the pvp in it has always been really silly compared to other games that were designed for pvp. if you want a game for pvp, go play an mmo or chivalry or something. this game is about building, first and foremost, and in that area they have done nothing but polish it and make it far better since the last time i played.
You are spot on with that. The game was never meant to center around PvP. It was supposed to be a building game. I liked the old days when PvP was nothing believe me. Today though PvP has become the biggest driving force in Minecraft Servers. That's why we see less and less Creative/Survival servers as time goes by. Do I want these things to go away? Yes it's my fault for getting my accounts "Hacked" and Mojang sits there with a policy that can be seen by certain opinions as helpful or useless. I also played Minecraft 4 Years ago. Evolution is indeed a good thing but if they evolve the game in the wrong ways then it will grow into something else. I liked the old days better in my opinion. There was no greifing, people were friendly, and people knew what they were doing.
Yep, that's why the EULA got shot down instantly. Mojang got greedy.
The community has turned the game into pvp. And 12 year olds playing factions and raging when they get raided and ddosing for no reason. The community has gotten horrible, trust me. That's why most server owners want a more mature and older audience on their server.
the game's community being ass isn't mojang's fault
mojang supports server owners/developers by giving them the infrastructure and support to do what they need to do, and by not getting in their way of development. how open minecraft is for modding and alteration is a design decision mojang deliberately made, and the fact that they haven't been greedy or tried to shove their hands into the pockets of server owners gets them positive marks.
i am not trying to fangirl-defend mojang because i don't really play minecraft and i don't really care honestly, but i think you guys are being a bit unfair and are just venting whatever problems/issues you have onto mojang even if it's not really mojang's fault. i think they're a pretty good company when you compare them to other players in the industry.
