I'm an oddball in this Minecraft community, being a creative writer and such. It's also weird that I love this site, even though I don't play Minecraft anymore. I've seen that this place is much more than just a simple Minecraft Forums/Marketplace, and so just out of curiosity:

What do you come to McM for?

I'll start, I joined this site a few weeks ago, and I've already seen so many people with so much dedication! I keep coming back for friendly discussions like these, and the random commission. I don't really have a set place, so I just browse all the forums till I find a thread interesting enough.

Personal entertainment..
I like visiting threads, that have like 10+ service teams trying to contact one dude.
Specially if it's been like a few days since it was posted.

And also a few other reasons.
But generally just watching all these money hungry teenagers, acting professional

I wouldn't call it money hungry. A lot of people here want to start somewhere in an area they're familiar with, like, or want to explore. And yeah money is part of it, but you're using a much harsher term to describe something so much more innocent. When it comes to service teams it's the same thing. You might disagree with their approach or their existence but it does boil down similarly. Especially on payments that are considered a pittance outside of this platform.

I mean, you're part of it - "Discord Setup Specialist". You offer a persona that incorporates all of your mannerisms, your attitudes, formatting and your services, bundle it up and show it off. It's not very considerate to be criticising others for showing their own personas here too. In a way, it's all an 'act', and that's not a bad thing.

If we're talking about scammers though: they're on every platform. Here is no different.
I honestly just come on here to window shop lol i have a hard to spending money im a huge saving freak :}
Looking at people's products can be really fun and eye opening :). So much diverse talent here.

What do you come to McM for?
Originally I came here from a server called PrimeMC to vouch for some (ex-)staff. Eventually became a platform (for me) where I could show off some of my development skills and meet some great new people. That's why I'm here now, though: the people. I don't get good commissions from here except from my friends of friends, who work privately. There's such a good community - not without its flaws obviously - and it's amazing to be a part of that (even before staff).

I just like reading random threads and chatting in SB when I'm here. Don't really do anything anymore, nor play much Minecraft

That's amazing to read! I came to McM through a service team, but just imagine my expression when I found SO much more on this platform xD

Going on a little bit of a tangent here. I originally came here for god knows why but ultimately I've stuck around so long because it's an interesting place to observe.

You get teenagers who think they're gods at programming who have their own little fan clubs who ignore every little thing they do or don't do. Then you get people who literally everyone can band together to hate all at once (I'm thinking of someone who had over 20 scam reports against them but I won't mention their name). (ALSO no that god at programming thing wasn't a swing at Ally, never saw her code, never saw her do anything wrong)

The real talent on this platform lays within the people who ultimately have left it over a while. It's not hard to see this platform hasn't turned out what people expected it to be long term so they left.

Generally, though, the reason this platform is/feels so toxic is that it is. You're sticking in talented kids with kids who think they're CEOs with kids who think they're legal experts with kids who think they know Java from top to finish with the least empathetic kids with the kids who are depressed and with the kids who are suicidal. Then this platform enforces crazy rules against 13-year-olds (And let's be real here, kids as young as 9) anywhere on or outside the platform.

Then you're forcing them to never ever delete their accounts (No disabling isn't the right thing for this situation). When allowing for shadow deletions would be as simple as allowing a kid to delete their posts all at once into only staff view, disable access to their profile, allow them to download recourses, etc.

I think Mick and the other staff never consider these ideas anymore because they make so much money from this platform and they're disconnected with the fact that some kids said something when they were 13 that they don't support and now they need to mass-report their posts. Also, they're desensitised with the fact of the rules they're enforcing against these kids that would get them banned on any platform anywhere, you'd never see Facebook doing this, you'd never see a real market place doing it, you'd never see anywhere doing it. It's the simple fact MC-Market causes distrust in the community through their rules in a 13-year-old community.

Finally got that one out of the way,
Seriously hope something changes for the new generation of kids coming here.

That's a seriously interesting view, and it's probably right from what I've seen till now. There's been so much stuff about complaints and scam reports, and Everything just feels like a trap.

Yeah, I do agree with that, kids are just being pushed too far these days and it's getting to their head. It's not their fault that their parents shoved a Java learning course into their lap at 9 years of age. Things really do need to be sorted out.

Shockingly the people I was thinking of while writing that, their parents have had nothing to do with it other than one person, one persons parents shoved thousands down their throats when they had a mildly successful I'll call it "development" project so no one catches on who but it's not hard to figure out.

Even then I think that's an ego/god complex issue rather than their parent's issues.

I hope Mick catches onto what I said and implements some of those changes, I've been asking him to talk about it for months with me and he keeps just telling me when he's there he'll talk but we never get anywhere on it. I'm pretty clear on what I want in that post so there we go.

Honestly, when shadow deletion is allowed, I'm out. Screw this community where every other person you meet is trying to entrap you or manipulate you, screw MC-Markets rules that are enforced so god damn everywhere, and more importantly screw every toxic person who's ever bought their way out of a punishment, got a staff member to abuse for them or manipulated a single person on this platform. You are an asshole end of the story.

Also, I did get a Java learning course when I was 9 but I actually think I bought that... let me check if I can find it.

Edit: Forgot to make a major point, even if you are a 16-year-old who got their parents to register a business for you that's related to Minecraft, you're no better than the kids you call toxic because they think they know the law. You also know nothing more than what's on an hour-long youtube video.

Honestly, I've only recently got into this site. I've had friends who have been on the site for years so I randomly thought a few months ago "it's worth a try" and now I'm here. I mostly look at the services people offer and just browse the forums. I don't do anything interesting.
