    My point is, it would only take one knowledgeable developer a few minutes to break the "some protection" you have. I think it should be a case of extreme protection, or none.

    No licence key system can ever be secure. Everything can be cracked, it's just a matter of how well you obfuscate the code. And if you obfuscate, you lose performance.
