Ok yeah for not minecraft and a lot of games it may be expensive to get external, if you do require the ddos protection i would still recommend getting it external from a provider specialized on that as most hostings that advertise "DDoS" protection have either terrible in-house one, low...
Tbh i dont think you will find a full time candidate for $100/m, maybe try upping the budget or hiring based on comissions.... sure you may find someone but its probably not very experiences person
