You are in an extremely oversaturated industry. Price really does not equal customers. Someone will always undercut you, especially if the servers are in London, where colocation costs are generally quite high. If you are struggling to grow with VPS, expanding into web...
Still check by every so often to see what's happening, and I'm still in contact with a few people around in 15/16, but they have all pretty much moved on from MC. A couple have kids and their own families, got married, etc. I do wonder where a couple of people ended up that use to be around, though.
Link shorteners are everywhere. There are quite literally thousands on Github (kutt, Polr, Pckd, etc, etc) or paid ones on sites like Codecanyon, so it's not worth anything unless it has something unique, which given the oversaturation of link shortener sites/scripts is extremely hard.
