Basically, like Spigot. Make it so you can edit a PM if its within x time of sending it. Like 5 minutes would be fine.

I often find myself sending something not correctly explained, and or has mis information after reading through again.. or I would like to add something.

Letting people edit messages would not be good, obviously. Due to scam reports etc. But just within 5 minutes of posting would do no harm, and yea.

The way it worked before seemed to be that if somebody else sent a PM after you sent yours, you could no longer edit yours, and you only had like a minute or so to edit your post.

I think that was fine and am not really sure how somebody could possibly abuse that to win a scam report or something. I think it was fine the way it was, and like most other changes staff make on this website, was a completely unnecessary thing to change.
This is incorrect.

I think the idea of providing all the previous versions of the message but the first one being the one shown could work, essentially solves the issue with scamming. And it provides an avenue for people to quickly edit their messages to clarify something (something that I do alllllll the time on the forums).

How about allowing to edit it as long as the other user has not seen/responded to the message?

This was changed to no edits so people could not scam by editing their messages.
Most likely will be rejected.
You would most likely be able to see recent edits of the message though as an Admin, or if you had the right permissions.

Anyhow, I agree with the OP.
