Hello, Today I am suggesting that message deletion within Chatbox be activated. I believe that not everyone should be trusted with this so I believe there should be a timer of course.

Members - 5 Minute Cool-Down Timer on deleting messages.

Premium - 2 Minute Cool-Down Timer on deleting messages.

Supreme - 30 Second Cool-Down Timer on deleting messages.

Ultimate - 5 Second Cool-Down Timer on deleting messages.

Reason for Suggestion: I have seen users post links that are not permitted in chatbox not knowing that it is against the rules, this will give them the chance to delete that message. Of course, these messages would be logged like normal but will be removed from public eye.

By "timer" I just want to clarify, do you mean a cool-down between instances where a user may delete the messages the’ve sent, so that they cannot use the ability to constantly send and delete messages? If that’s the case, then I agree with the inclusion of a cool-down. It isn’t a toy.

There has never been a case of someone posting their personal information in shoutbox on accident twice within any relevant amount of time. If a user needs to delete content they’re sending so frequently that even a 20 minute cool-down is too much, then their issue is not with the cool-down.

Our current software doesn’t support this feature, since it would permanently delete the message from our logs, but I would not be against getting this developed for XF2 specifically for the cases where someone accidentally pastes information that they shouldn’t have posted. On the matter of rule violations, the user should still be punished. Otherwise we put ourselves in a position where we allow members to advertise content they shouldn’t be posting, get the views/clicks/attention they’re seeking, and then delete it to avoid responsibility.

They might not post it twice, but it might double-post due to lag (unless that got patched, as I haven't seen it happen recently)

Yes indeed, this is something that we do want to add as an Ultimate feature moving forward, but due to limitations with our current addon we've never been able to do it without hard-deleting the messages from our database which isn't ideal.

This has been suggested quite a few times and I believe is currently pending, so I'll move this one to denied, thanks for the suggestion
