Hey all,

Recently, MCM made a good step in the right direction by enforcing strict policies against resource leakers and those affiliated. However, in the eyes of many, it was a half-baked effort knowing that this site thrives on the Epic Games TOS violating sales of accounts (and the other range of TOS violating services this website facilitates). I wish to see the removal of accounts as a step towards making this marketplace a platform that actually cares about ethics.

Why would we want to ban the sale of accounts?
  1. Legitimize the marketplace. The site hypocritically enforces Rule 5.4 by striking down those who violate product ownership rights heavily, yet turns a blind eye to the sale of Fortnite Accounts which violates Epic Games’s TOS. Choose one or the other. Remove 5.4 and commit to being a black market, or equally enforce your own rules across all sections of the forum. Being inconsistent and half-assed only annoys the community even more.

  2. Get rid of our most toxic and notorious members. The accounts market is saturated, comprising of crackers stealing accounts, returning ban evaders and is also the section holding the most linked scam reports often closing due to inconclusive evidence.

  3. The site no longer needs to allocate resources to develop features and moderate the section. "Opportunity cost"

  4. MC-Market will not die. By considering points 1 and 3, MCM can become an even better place for everyone and expand into even more markets. There are far more and far better opportunities out there.

You should rewrite the suggestion to just target anything on the site that violates their respective company’s TOS/EULA. Fortnite accounts are just one of many items currently being sold on the site that shouldn’t be allowed under the current standards set.

It's only fair, if the Minecraft section and other parts of this website were banned/disallowed due to TOS issues with said companies, then this needs to go as well.

I can understand the frustration that people must be feeling about us making such significant changes to our platforms with the removal of the sale of Minecraft and social media account sales. This is an ongoing process, and we don't claim to be perfect at the moment. In my announcement initially discussing these changes, I stated the following:

In order to protect the policies and rights of all sellers and buyers on MCM, going forward we intend to continue making changes to the platform to make sure there is no content that is in violation. However, this will take place over time as we continue to investigate the user agreements of potential companies of interest and develop appropriate tools and policies to accommodate them.

Additionally, I said:

If you are a representative of any brand or business and you believe that your rights are being infringed on by content posted or promoted by MCM, please start a line of communication by opening a ticket here https://www.mc-market.org/tickets/new and we will work with you to make sure any violations of your rights are dealt with.

For now, I will deny this suggestion and all others like it while we continue working towards becoming a more legitimate marketplace. We appreciate your patience with us in making these changes, but they won't be able to occur overnight and any additional suggestions made saying "remove x!" will receive the same response.

Denied, thanks for the suggestion
