I have a CSS template which can be used for my server, but im not sure how to edit this, as in i dont know where to put the file

You need to link the stylesheet in your HTML document with this <link rel="stylesheet" href="link/to/stylesheet">. It's preferred in the <head></head>

Here is a video tutorial on linking stylesheets to HTML documents:

Assuming your stylesheet is external (seperate file document)
