The actual reason is because coronavirus is a type of virus. It was called that until the official name (Covid 19).

Thank you for posting the only coherent information in this thread. I'd also just like to add that COVID-19 is the name of the disease caused by this virus. The actual virus' name is SARS-CoV-2, named in relation to the old coronavirus that causes SARS (SARS-CoV, like you wrote above).
