also in the admin settings they can set the icons or votes to positive or negative, its probably off so people do not abuse it

We wont be adding any negative ratings.
Neutral would become negative then. Since it wouldn't be positive.
On your profile it'd look like a negative, is what I mean. I honestly don't like the idea of any kind of non-positive ratings.
If we ever did done giive ratings I would probably suggest it be locked to premium members OR have to have a positive rating of a select level (eg have +100 positive to vote negative and as soon as lower you cant).
There are ways to do it without effecting public visibility but then we would have issues of spammers and groups of people down voting people for the fun of it or to get revenge..

At the same time Verringer, the Optimistic rating is basically a negative rating. Everyone sees it as a negative and no one uses it in a positive context. Also, Dafaq dosen't need to show up on the ratings received part of your profile, but just on the thread.
So why is funny there?
In most cases, the "Funny" rating is used for stupid posts or comments. Yet, it is still a positive rating, which it really shouldn't be.[DOUBLEPOST=1430326368,1430326301][/DOUBLEPOST]
Pretty sure this community is smart enough to realize the low quality posters. There is no reason for an official negative rating, as I think we all know it will be abused by idiots.
Just has two meanings.
Funny - Either you were actually telling a funny joke, or said something funny, or we think whatever you said is so absurd, only we find it funny to laugh at you.
Same with Optimistic and Creative.
If somebody posts something that we all know will never happen in a million years, we'll rate it optimistic.
"Man I hope there's still Minecon in 2025!" - Would get a Positive Optimistic rating.
"Man I hope fish start falling from the sky when it rains outside." Would get a Negative Optimistic rating.
All depends on how somebody takes it. There's no emotions in text or on a forum so it's hard to determine the true intended meaning.
This also applies to every single rating. I tend to give out a few sarcastic "Vouch" ratings occasionally and a "
" when somebody is being spiteful.A solution would be to make all ratings neutral and remove the total ratings from user profiles. On a market site, nobody cares about how "Nice" people are (when buying something) but rather how many vouches they have.
This would allow the current use of ratings to continue without negative ratings having a positive effect on users.
