Disallow "Pick a Number from X-XXXXXXX" Giveaways

Why should this be disallowed?

• Main point is that in these threads you have no idea whether it is legit. For example, someone makes a thread like this and says "guess 1-100000"; he is thinking of the number 1234. Someone guesses 1234 and in his mind, he changes it and never gives away the money, which would be against:

• 4.3 Do not offer to giveaway any item or service which you do not intend to provide.

How can we fix this issue?

Alternatively, they should be forced to pick a winner once the time’s up, like the closest to the # - but your suggestion above is better, though that takes more time to implement so this is like the “easy” version.

There needs to be a whole system because people can just copy-paste numbers from 1 to 1*10^X number in hopes of tripping the system.

That is pretty much what we do now. If someone has not picked a winner, they are required to pick 1 that is the closest to the winning number. This does require a giveaway to be reported for us to do this though.

I do like this suggestion, I think it's fairly low priority but can be good.

Indeed. This is already what is currently done. Perhaps moving forward we can add something like what was suggested with hiding what the true number actually is, but with the introduction of our custom giveaways system I think that these threads are getting much less common to begin with anyways.
