Was the first to pick up a i7-4790k VPS (6GB), and I must say this thing is really powerful! Over 1.5GB/s I/O and the CPU alone outperforms any dedicated machine I've ever used, including an E3-1230v2 & KS-4 (i5-3570S)!

The only downside so far is that the port speed is capped @ 100Mb/s, it's not slow by any means, but it's nice to have slightly faster speeds for those occasional large transfers ;-)

freevps.us benchmark script
ben@Buzz:~$ ./bench.sh
CPU model : Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4790K CPU @ 4.00GHz
Number of cores : 4
CPU frequency : 3991.082 MHz
Total amount of ram : 6144 MB
Total amount of swap : 0 MB
System uptime : 1 day, 2:53,
Download speed from CacheFly: 11.9MB/s
Download speed from Coloat, Atlanta GA: 6.82MB/s
Download speed from Softlayer, Dallas, TX: 11.5MB/s
Download speed from Linode, Tokyo, JP: 5.45MB/s
Download speed from i3d.net, Rotterdam, NL: 9.10MB/s
Download speed from Leaseweb, Haarlem, NL: 6.38MB/s
Download speed from Softlayer, Singapore: 2.19MB/s
Download speed from Softlayer, Seattle, WA: 9.53MB/s
Download speed from Softlayer, San Jose, CA: 11.2MB/s
Download speed from Softlayer, Washington, DC: 10.3MB/s
I/O speed : 1.6 GB/s

Cheers once again, Mike!

Are the I7 VPS's on the OVH games servers?

That would be correct.

Thought it would of been site owned.
If you want to give me a thousand+ dollars to do so I'm not stopping you... ;) I don't have dozens of clients, so I wouldn't buy hardware just for a few people and to brag about it.

I could do it, I have the money, but there's no point of me wasting money currently when OVH has the same and their game mitigation includes L7 similar to Psychz in Dallas.

Edit: I would most likely do it in the future instead of E3's in Dallas, if time and clients permit.

Would anyone be interested in cheap ($3.00 / 1 GB) Minecraft hosting on i7-4790K's with Multicraft 2.0? There's a gap in hosts that claim $3/GB hosting but don't actually provide that as a flat monthly price, and I believe the quality of service and uptime that I try to promise at ExtraVM would be helpful to some people that are looking for reliable game hosting on a great CPU and DDoS mitigation without the steep price.

If so like the post or send me a private message if you are, I'd appreciate it. I hope continue doing this and actually giving a service that people need and like.
