When running massive scripts to check if thousands of names are taken, you can use Mojang's actual link.

https://account.mojang.com/checkProfileName?agent=minecraft&profileName=name

Replace the bolded part with the name, and the website returns in plain text either:

{"taken":"true"}
or
{"taken":"false"}

This is meant as a faster alternative to namemc when dealing with thousands of accounts names. For normal use, use namemc of course.
Nevermind, there's a faster way.

High performance, consistent uptime and fast support. Minecraft hosting that just works.

Do you know if there is a way to figure out when the name is coming up? I know namemc does but I have no clue how it works

The main feature is speed. Namemc takes a bit longer, but when dealing with thousands of names, this method is twice as fast as name mc.

Namemc takes 1 second because of the rate limits. This is going to be exactly the same.

I don't know if there's a rate limit because this is the actual link mojang uses when you click on "check availability" on the name change screen. I got this link with Tamper.

There is. I hit the rate limit while manually checking names a while ago. Personally, I would rather use NameMC if you were sending a massive amount of GET requests to check availability because it handles the limits for you. The rate limit on that page isn't documented so it would be hard work around, but you could use the Mojang API directly and just wait about a second before checkin another.

MRW people don't realize you can do a lot more than 1 name/second using Mojang's API.

Huh. Thanks for informing me of this, I guess my thread is obsolete then.
