freelancers, do people close to you know about your work? What do they think about it?

I'm not relevant enough to go around telling friends about my freelancing. I keep it lowkey
Although I do brag to my online friends, about my websites & cool artworks I've been making.

For the occasional times my friends find out about my freelancing on their own, usually they say "Oh wow cool"
They don't think to much about it after that, since I just don't bring it up randomly.

Not exactly "free-lance" but I am a coder and personally I just keep it to myself there is no reason for anyone else to know really makes no difference to them, I guess if you are making like 30k a year or its replacing a full-time job maybe.

Full-time freelance for years.

not sure how or why to hide it. People keep asking me to teach them a random skill as soon as I talk about my job. Learned many years ago that the average person saying that has 0 motivation and drive to listen to me explain or better yet get directions on what amazing courses I can link them (better than me blabbering to them) to learn in the most efficient way.

The sad part ends up not the fact that "people don't listen to me" or something of course. The sad part is that I had literally nobody in close to far proximity to even tell me basic directions in this subject. I learned in an age when YouTube and even more so course selling websites and interactive code bootcamps were not mature at all. Finding quality resources that taught you the job without going to masters degree was not piece of cake back then like it is now - annoying to learn that "ease" of success does not motivate people more, it would sure do to me...
