Hey! I had a couple of questions and was wondering where some of you guys/gals learned to code, I know there are many companies that offer online courses that teach coding like FreeCodeCamp, CodeAcademy, colleges, etc. What do you think would be a smart choice to start learning JavaScript or Python?

After you have learnt Java, if you want to learn how to use Spigot, there's a guy on YT that I watched - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCNXt2MrZaqfIBknamqwzeXA
I will check it out![DOUBLEPOST=1619232254][/DOUBLEPOST]After some looking around different forums I have found a really detailed course that explains java and also the basics of coding spigot. The guy that teaches it explains everything super clear and it's really easy to follow along, if you want to take a look at it here is the link to it

Hey!

I literally learned everything I've learned by trial and error, basically all by myself. Although I've been in a Discord for private server development so of course there's a help channel, and you're free to ask questions and get some help. There's also quite a few videos and guides/courses you're able to check out for example I watched this video just to watch it one night and he really goes into detail >

this is a very in depth guide by someone who really knows what he's doing, I'd recommend you take a look, maybe not watch the whole 2 hours but maybe sit and watch some, then come back and watch more later. Best of luck, hit me up if you have any questions, I'll help you in any ways that I can!

Spent $8K on a developer then he ditched me and afterwards I learned how to code because I wanted to program by myself, best $8K ever spent.

My methods are probably outdated, since I used them over a decade ago. But, for Java, I learnt from TheNewBoston on YouTube (here, and here), and then purchased this book. Though, now, for learning Java, I'd recommend this Udemy course, alongside this YouTube video.

Your thread also mentioned JavaScript vs. Python. Whilst Python may be the most used/learnt/taught programming language in the world, currently. I still say it's more beneficial to learn JavaScript, and some of the more popular frameworks, purely because of the diversity. Where I learnt it was from about 4 YouTube videos (this, this, this, and this) - A lot of them teach the same stuff, but, there's still valuable information in all of them. And, for learning accompanying frameworks, I mainly read wikis, and did a lot of trial and error.

Whilst learning languages based around, OOP, I also followed this wiki article, and applied it from the jump. Same with learning about convention.

I'd also recommend, regardless of the language you choose, to learn how to use Version Control (mainly, Git), and to familiarise yourself with databases.
