I am 17 years old and about to go into college. I have about $1,500 saved up and am wondering what you guys think the best way to go about investing it is. I really have no experience online investing besides Fortnite accounts, but I am looking for something new. If anyone has any tips or advice that would be appreciated.

Forex is a good way to learn, put a few hundred $ into that and take it slowly. I suggest not paying anyone for courses, unless they are 100% trusted and not some random lifestyle 'trader' on Instagram. If, you are interested hit me up and we can talk about this further.

Crypto is a good way, however, if you are looking for long term financial gain, stock markets are the thing.

I hear that investing in the forex and other cryptocurrency markets is a good way of making a lot of money. A general tip when being an investor for projects in particular, always expect an ROI (Return of Investment) that is more than you invested and can be returned to you in a reasonable amount of time.

Cheers.
He pretty much explained it the best, just watch out for investment scams. Such as server that don't have known owners ect...

I find it hilarious how people recommend stocks like it would be something you can learn and get into in a matter of hours. It’s takes weeks, if not months to learn the very basics. Not to mention, would take years to grow $1,500 to something significant.

If you like learning, look into trading - but don’t expect to be able to start investing the same day. Plus, expect loses in the beginning. Emotions play a big role, which is why there is such a big difference between paper trading and using real money.

Good luck :)

With all due respect that is what investing IS. Otherwise you'd be a parked car or going in reverse. Like you and i previously stated shorting such as Day or Swing trading is a good way for short term gain. Crypto is so new that it's a good idea to try to short it AS WELL as hold some for long term until the crypto world is more developed. And continue to learn and form your own crypto strategies. All investing for that regard.
Alistair F. , just realized you were referring to projects. Then yes that is valid as projects or startup businesses do not always succeed. And your ROI can vary on whether it's public, Non profit etc.[DOUBLEPOST=1584215329][/DOUBLEPOST]

I couldn't agree more. However the speed at which someone learns depends on the person. Because investing involves money it is good to do your research and be cautious. With that said, sometimes in life you just have to take the first step, such as buying a small stock.

In response to others who are recommending various forms of trading/investing: I would not recommend trading forex as a beginner in investing/trading. Investing in index funds is probably the smartest and safest method for a beginner, although it's a long-term thing whereas forex is rather short-term.

However, you're not even 18 yet so for now I'd research investing and trading (if you even want to get into that). As a minor, the best thing you can do is invest your time into working or studying. Explore and figure out what you believe will be worth it for you. As for investing with money, investing in the stock market is solid but if you're the businessman type, you can invest into your own ventures. There's all sorts of stuff you can do in the worlds of ecommerce and social media, for example.
