I'm wondering how much that machine costs if you're allocating four dedicated cores and your intel xeon E563 only has four cores? http://ark.intel.com/products/47924/Intel-Xeon-Processor-E5630-12M-Cache-2_53-GHz-5_86-GTs-Intel-QPI . If your allocating all your cores to one client instead of making it virtual cores, then wouldn't it be a dedicated server. You'd have nothing left to run the hypervisor on. The only thing i'd advise people about before buying a dedicated server is that reinstalling isn't easy and will cost money if there's not a KVM switch available.I can offer you exactly what you are looking for, 4GB DDR3 ECC, 4 CPU CORES, 120GB HDD, 1IPv4 Address Unlimited Bandwidth, My nodes use intel xeon E5630's @ 2.53-2.80GHz+ and L5630's @ 2.13GHz+.
So its a dual core system, correct?I am saying I would allocate 4 cores to that specific virtual machine, not saying that is the entire count for the server, the server has 8 cores and 16 threads in total. OS-re-installs only take a few minutes and can be done remotely, and in person at my work office.
