Learning Java / Plugin Coding

Hey guys,
I've wanted to start learning how to code plugins for a while now, but I just don't know where to start..
Is it beneficial to learn Java or any prerequisites before?
I currently have the student edition of IntelliJ but I haven't done anything in the software.
If anyone has recommendations on udemy courses or youtube tutorials that were effective for you, let me know!

Learn java and then spigot/bukkit. Even though I'm still new at this I attempted to do spigot/bukkit programming without actually learning java for about 5 months ago last year and it was a complete waste of time, even though I was learning a bit of java all I was doing was learning the spigot/bukkit api (which was what I wanted to do until I realized without java I wasn't going to get anywhere with spigot/bukkit).
