Mineplex, yes.
Hypixel, no.
Hypixel has enough to support a team of 40 employees, paying $14/hour.
As well as their massive amount of machines, they recently bought some expensive hardware for their boxes for mitigation (I don't know the exact price).

Servers like you mentioned are all large, however the scale of their network is in no way near the size of one like Hypixel's.
Running 20 boxes is completely different to like Hypixel running >300.
Let alone all of this costs a lot more than the servers you posted.

Profit wise, maybe yes. Income wise, no.
Mojang is looking at profits, clearly expressed by their EULA. They are fine with covering the cost of the server, not with making money from their idea.

In the worst case scenario, if Microsoft decides to do something about my server, is it just closing down the server, or could it be more than just that?
