Not true. We generally start off those that we choose to sponsor with smaller servers and upgrade them as needed.

It's really not beneficial to a hosting provider to sponsor you. You offer a percentage of server profits and considering you're not able to pay for hosting your self it doesn't look like the host will earn much from this sponsorship. But I'm not a hosting company.
