Well, now that Anthony R is gone from staff and my understanding of the whole situation was that he was the one who pushed to have them renamed "Compliance Officers" and wanted to introduce all those "Compliance Rules" and expand the power of Scam Reports Staff, I believe that there's no reason not to return Compliance Officers back to being just plain Scam Reports Staff.

I think most people can agree that the term "Compliance Officer" sounds frightening and fascist. It makes Scam Reports Staff sound like they have far more powers than they actually do, and I think overall the whole concept was a push in the wrong direction for the site. I mean at one point there was even a "Head Compliance Officer". It seems that the site is turning towards a positive direction now, and Mick appears to be listening more to the community and pulling back on the restrictive atmosphere that's been in place over this site for the past few months.

I think symbolically returning the rank "Compliance Officer" to "Scam Reports Staff" would be a good gesture to the community that the site is back on track in a positive direction.

Outside of symbolic meaning, I think in general it would confuse new members a lot less to just call them Scam Reports Staff, as that directly lets everyone know what their job is and what they do on this site.

Let's push to make this site the friendly and happy place that it was before.

When I heard the term for the first time I laughed. What is this, court? It's a marketing forum filled with teenagers. Half of them don't know what compliance officer means.

"Scam Reports Staff" is too boring. I'd challenge you all to come up with a more "title-like" word that means Scam Report Staff.

lol monty and I like it cause we think it describes the job perfectly to everyone and leaves no room for confusion or misinterpretation.

it should be simple and to the point.

but here are some other suggestions:

Judicator
Scam Watch
Scam Guard
Scam Prevention Officer
Scam Officer
Scam Authority
Arbiter
Scam Warden
Scam Moderator

none of these really sound friendly to me like scam reports staff does though. ^_^

Scam officer? They're in charge of scamming?

lol yeah i was thinking that too

idk.

All I know is that Compliance Officer sounds like something out of the SS or Gestapo or something. I don't think that should be their title and unless anyone has any better ideas it should just be Scam Reports Staff because that's what their job is and it clearly defines and explains their role right there in the title.

Scam Reports Staff isn't a very "title-like" way of describing the role. Hi, I'm rocket and I'm Scam Report Staff. That doesn't sound the same as "Hi, I'm rocket and I'm a Scam Officer" (or whatever).

Compliance means complying

Compliance officer makes sure everyone is complying (or following) the rules.
Scam Reports Staff limits what they can do to a certain extent.

lol, logic is restored. Thank you, nara~kavi.

I call them correctional officers (COs). Sounds like Anthony R wanted to join the Bureau of Prisons but failed the psychological test so he decided to become a "scam reports expert" instead on a forum where people put effort into scamming $3.

"Scam Reports Team" or "Scam Reports Staff" really sums up the job in 3 words, or one phrase. I mean, correctional officer isn't bad either except the fact that they can't correct anything and are just putting their nose into things that have nothing to do with them.[DOUBLEPOST=1451404483,1451404311][/DOUBLEPOST]

I don't know which part of "THEY CAN'T DO ANYTHING" is hard to understand. They can't make anyone comply to anything. At best they can request a forum ban for a user, as well as wasting the time of two individuals and causing more drama than need be. I think this whole system takes the ideology "innocent until proven guilty" too religiously. You can't apply that to this situation in any form whatsoever simply because it's impossible for a correctional officer to decide whether a user is innocent or guilty based on a few easily forged conversations... I mean, they're useless, lol...[DOUBLEPOST=1451404669][/DOUBLEPOST]

Hey there convicts, listen up. CO rocket over here. Now put your hands where I can see them, and you can slowly go to the yard. Any fast movements and it's a bullet to where the sun doesn't shine. Got it? "OPEN ON 40"

Does that work better?[DOUBLEPOST=1451404778][/DOUBLEPOST]

I'd like to think my avatar is pretty cool, an arrow indicating my gender.

They *are* useless. That's not offensive, it's a fact. I appreciate volunteers, and in fact a lot patrol and work at various services I run. I've appreciated all of them and helped out financially as well. If Anthony went ahead and worked for PayPal voluntarily, I'd be pretty grateful for that too. I don't really have full appreciation for things that are far from good. Also, I didn't judge a person, I stated an opinion on a system.

Serial killers kill people voluntarily. I wonder why they're sentenced and often executed? I mean... they do it for free? It's the same logic you're giving me.

The correct thing to do is contact law enforcement and PayPal/your bank. They are the real people that can help. Not some correctional officer on a forum that can ban the user, at best. That's not gonna get your money back now, is it?

We've renamed the rank to "Scam Resolver", as we felt that described the position the best.
