How about we have recent thread and recent posts on the left and right handside of the website constantly no matter what we click on? This would give more views to all threads/posts. Something like the following:

I'm aware we already have this on the index, but having to go back at the beginning of the website just to see anything new is bothersome.

I don't see how this'll increase usability or navigation for the site, I think it'll just look a bit clunky and make our site less intuitive to navigate since our current way of doing things is exactly how every forum ever has done it.
