EDIT 2: Feel free to post your own content and I'll link the post numbers in the list.
EDIT: Since posting this I've realised any new posts will be lost in the depths of the thread.
So here's a handy list of people I've exposed:

Rian (Post #1), Dectom (Post #5), Ignitious (Post #5), chris_gspvp (Post #9 by Jack), ThatCoolBlueKid (Post #9 by Jack)

Hi, I'm Morgan. If you don't already know I'm a web "developer". I use that term loosely because there are some people on MCM who believe that it is okay to blatantly copy and paste people's code and call themselves developers. Either way this thread is to serve as a documented list of people who have previously blatantly stolen other people's work, and claimed it as their own. I'll update it frequently.

There's nothing to say that these users won't change. But this is here so that they learn from their mistakes. I might add a consolation message if they decide to add the appropriate attribution.

"Fully Qualified Web Developer with over 3 Years Experience"
Proof of these qualifications in web development would be nice.

Claims his own design in the footer, even with placeholder text still there:

Upon viewing the source code, there are several references to "Freehold Responsive web template". He even neglected to remove the meta tags. That's certainly something:

Quick Google search returned this:

This template is available to people who purchased a magazine called 'Web Designer'. Well, I decided to purchase this issue of the magazine in order to get access to the template.

The template should contain attribution and backlinks to 'w3layouts' - however since the meta tags still exist Rian has removed the backlinks without donating as well as any attribution to the original author.

Template thief!

Surprise surprise this is a free HTML template called Photon by html5up.net -
72be4faabbe89f17388a4911bdf6d070.png

Free under the Creative Commons 3.0 Attribution license. Rian has removed all attribution to HTML5 UP on that site, and claimed it as his own work. You can see where he also intentionally removed the HTML5 UP attribution in the CSS file here:

If we view the SASS version of the code which he decided to leave on the site and not use, we can see the attribution text which SHOULD be there!

Code:
/*
    Photon by HTML5 UP
    html5up.net | @n33co
Free for personal and commercial use under the CCA 3.0 license (html5up.net/license)
*/

Oh - and just a note here about http://pixelhosting.co/
Rian likes to call it 'Pixel Hosting LTD' however it's not a registered business in the UK & Ireland. Bullsh*t alert! Looks like someone isn't paying taxes and filing accounts as they should be.

You still don't seem to get what I'm saying here. But that's ok. The bottom line is... what they are doing is perfect for this market. They also cater for the larger spenders that you are talking about.

What they are doing is okay for this market.

They do not cater to larger spenders.

As far as you are aware... your narrow views aren't helping you see the bigger picture here.

Okay, sorry, let me rephrase. I don't believe that anyone on this site has the skills necessary to cater to large spenders. (I don't even know what you mean by that, because large spenders in the real web development world can be up to $600k, smaller ones are the $5k-10k) If such a person exists, I have yet to see a post by them.

(keep in mind the people I am talking about are the ones that actually sell websites on this forums)

I know for a fact Blake Jones use to sell websites for 2k+ (as well as cheaper ones), unfortunately he was banned for some rather tough circumstances. I believe he is still working for Elcro ... not sure. But these other developers DO have the skills for creating more advanced websites but they don't need to.
PM me if you want to talk further about it. :)

ANYWAY, I don't want to take up anymore of this thread. Sorry morganjp for sort of hi-jacking it.

I personally have worked on several large projects that are in the price range you have outlined. I think it's a bit naive to assume that people are less talented than others based solely on the budget of the sites that they create. While I agree with you that there are some developers here that could not work at that caliber, there are others that are plenty talented but simply choose not to. In the long run, Elcro and 1amDev may end up making more per hour than other developers that work on larger projects, as they have created a niche for their business. The more the site costs, the more selective the process of choosing a developer becomes. Therefore, I've personally found that large, expensive website jobs are much harder to find. Elcro and 1amDev are getting new orders at unprecedented rates, so it is likely that they make more in the long run. Personally, I think they are both just as talented as anyone else, and have simply chosen MCM because they are able to succeed here.

Hey morganjp !
I hate to be an asshole, but this has to be done.
My name is Joel, and I will be your host with the roasts. Let's get this shit underway.

AltGr, you're... what's the word again? Fucked.

Well done, you called my Bootstrap templates out for being Bootstrap. Wahey :)

Not trying to 1 up you in any way, but I've been developing for about 8 years now, started when I was about 12. I know it's only half a year or so, but I just thought I'd mention it (to grind your gears).

That template was supposed to be based on oc.tc, but it's not an exact copy of the code, lol.

People appreciate that I use Bootstrap for the templates as it allows them to customise them more and make them better for their own needs, at no pricey cost, I've had people tell this to me, so I stick to Bootstrap.

Mineweb splash is beaut, not too in your face, nice colours. Lumen is beautiful. I actually had a nice discussion with the creator of Bootswatch about my last project that I dropped, was also based around Bootstrap.

The rest of Mineweb is also built around Lumen, but wahey, a lot of websites use Bootstrap these days, huh? I could have used some other CSS library like Semantic UI to cut down development time, but heh, I like Bootstrap over the rest.

Might I also add that I work full time as a developer, not as some shitty developer on MCM that sells websites for $50, but someone who works with a system for a company of > 500 which continuously has new features added, and bugs fixing - and not a lot of front end work gets done on this due to its age, it's mainly backend. So ofc I'm pretty busy.

Sure, you made your website yourself with no help from CSS libraries, but honestly dude.. I'd have used a CSS library. Sure your Javascript effects are nice, but the website is ugly, there's no other way to say it.

And you can hate because I've used CSS libraries but they speed up development. I could hate on you for using jQuery, but I don't expect you to write up all the effects you need from scratch in vanilla JS do I? Are you going to hate on me for being a frequent user of Laravel, CodeIgniter, ZF2? Are you going to hate on me for being a supporter of the open source community? Or do you think all developers should reinvent the wheel?

And just to put the cherry on the cake, I'm happy selling these Bootstrap templates, I'm happy that people are happy with them, and I'm also happy with the hundreds of extra dollars I earn from selling them every month without having to lift a finger.

I find it kind of embarrassing that you've been developing for 8 years, and yet all you're doing is making excuses for making shitty vanilla Bootstrap templates. It looks like first of second web development year material. It's also funny that you've yet to give a single reason on how it's ugly. Knowing from some experience, I'll admit, it sounds like pure spite because I called you out on your bullshit. And hey, I'll also admit, I'd be mad too. But that's not my problem.
Most of the people here don't know any better, obviously, but your time developing and quality don't line up. I have nothing against the frameworks, but the fact of how little effort was made into changing it. It's like stealing a logo from another company, and when you're sued, your defense is, "the logo is beautiful."

Also, congratulations. You've essentially shown the whole community how little you put into these templates, and how you honestly, whether you intended to sound like this or not, don't give a damn about the front-end at all, which is what 70% of people looking for a website on here do.

The funniest part about all of this is that if you had given some criticism that actually pointed out something, other than the all too vague, "it's just ugly," this could have all been avoided. And even funnier, you've still yet to do so. You've been exposed, and you try to justify yourself by running to the backend, and bragging about your salary. Obviously everyone here, as you said in the first place, low balls everything's price. And I couldn't agree more. So your statement about moneymaking is worthless to anyone on here.

So yeah, that's about it.
On a brighter note, happy 4/20.

I would have given you honest feedback about your website, but I was just having a laugh with Chump. We Skyped about it earlier today. Here are the logs, with my honest opinion on your website.

[12:56:11] Josh ± Mineweb.io: His new website is nice, but I wasn't going to post that in the thread due to the amount of hate he threw at me.
[12:56:32] Chump's Sheep Ass: His OLD website.
[12:56:40] Josh ± Mineweb.io: Yes, let me type
[12:58:21] Josh ± Mineweb.io: His old website was, well. There were a few things. It was unprofessional, the gradients look like they come straight off a website from the 90s, the colours were too bold, and the footer wasn't nice at all. Again probably due to the gradients. I found the navigation unreadable when I had scrolled, and I wasn't sure why it had changed colour, that's probably down to the font.
[12:58:36] Josh ± Mineweb.io: I say old, but he must have just updated it last night to be honest
[12:59:41] Josh ± Mineweb.io: Screenshot - I think this is another of his websites, but do you know what I mean about being unreadable? Screenshot
[13:00:22] Chump's Sheep Ass: That's my website, thanks very much and it looks perfectly readable to me. Let me take a screenshot.
[13:01:01] Josh ± Mineweb.io: You should remember to design for all browsers and operating systems :)

> I find it kind of embarrassing that you've been developing for 8 years, and yet all you're doing is making excuses for making shitty vanilla Bootstrap templates.

Revenue from Gametemplates is what's being used to fund my projects, that's the reason it's live. Sure they may be Bootstrap templates, but obviously people want them, or they wouldn't be buying them. There are a lot of mixed feelings about Bootstrap. And as I'm about to say (this is an edit), most of the 8 years has been back end.

And honestly, yeah, I don't care too much about front end. I'm primarily a back end developer as there's a lot more to do and it's more challenging, which I enjoy and I chose that over front end to do for a living because I didn't want to be limited to creating something that looks nice, but to giving something functionality and making it useful. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying anything against front end developers, I'm just saying that I prefer back end.

Lastly, I haven't been exposed for anything... That's such an odd thing to say. I have openly admitted that I sell cheap Bootstrap templates and basing the design off other popular server sites that also use Bootstrap. I like the look of Bootstrap, some don't, some designers think it's lazy, some think it's great.
