Name colors keep getting changed for people. For example, I changed my name color and less than an hour later it got changed to pink. Same thing happened to Kelsey and Cal.

Tried it out and yeah keeps reverting back to purple even though I pick green.
I imagine just some nonsense to do with the Make-A-Wish Fundraiser name color that was added. Probably just some lazy coding to give people the name color when the purchase the upgrade. If that's the case it will most likely be resolved when the fundraiser ends, if not then it's another bug Mick will undoubtedly not resolve.

Going to bump this bug report since it's kind of dead, but issue is still active. Seems as if every 15 minutes my name color revers to purple. Super annoying.

Didn't you have a pink-purple gradient on before? Kappa.

Actually, it's because of user rebuilds. Upon rebuilding your account, XenForo sets your name color preference based on the user groups you're in. Each group has its own priority. The following line is how it's set:
PHP:
XenForo_Application::set('display_style_group_id', $group_id);
Looking at XF's source code, this can easily be fixed by extending XenForo_DataWriter_User::rebuildDisplayStyleGroupId. I'll be doing this personally tomorrow, however if this site's developer wants to do it, then this is simply a tip. For the solution I'm thinking it about, it would need to call a model and update another column besides display_style_group_id to store your preference and allow name color preference updates at the same time if you've never made a preference.

Threw this together quickly: https://github.com/Jayson-Fong/XenForo-Static-Display-Group

It isn't complete yet, but it does work. Just some basic changes need to be done. I don't have permission from the author of the display group selector so that hasn't been added to my open source version, but this can easily be modified to support that by just using jayson_DisplayGroup_Model_StyleGroup::setStyleGroup.

Nice, but sadly the fact is there is a very slim chance Mick will actually see or even implement this. There have been other bugs posted with solutions posted that simply will go unfixed.

Update on this situation:

(TLDR) - RIP everyone in this thread who wants to use a certain name color but cannot. Looks like we're gonna have to wait until Mick sells the website to someone less negligent (or just hire someone competent like BeBosny again).

Since we all know this isn't going to be fixed, I asked Justis for a refund in chatbox. He told me to contact Mick, but he has PMs disabled, so I made a support ticket and it was quickly assigned to him.

2 weeks later, there is still no response. I open a scam report on Mick (since we can't use what we paid for, and he's not going to fix it/give a refund, then it's only necessary).

A few days go by (understandable, there are numerous scam reports), and a scam resolver messaged me to let me know that this report would have to be dealt with by Mick directly (a little ironic IMO, 'handling your own scam report') and that it would be done shortly, should be within the next 24 hours.

Well, it's been a day (and a few hours) and there is still no response from Mick.

Seeming as I was reminded of this by an email due to the above, I’ve created a replacement for SugarCoding’s add-on which also replaces All Rich Usernames. Open sourced it since I’m working on a newer version to serve more purposes instead of just username styling. https://github.com/Jayson-Fong/XenForo-Display-Selector

It’s also been tested a fair bit since I’m using it on a production board.

Hi,

Just a quick bump on this thread since I am still having an issue with this bug and Mick has announced it as "fixed" in his latest announcement. Issue doesn't seem to be fixed and it's very annoying to deal with.

Best regards,
Michael // 1amDev

Hey guys,

This issue finally seems to have been fixed. My name color has saved and hasn't changed in the last few logins. I hope it's the same way for everyone else. Bumping so that staff can archive this if it is fixed.

Best regards,
Michael // 1amDev
