So I'm a Co-Owner of a Factions server on a network, where the main server is rather popular. However, Factions has had some serious drawbacks, and we can't seem to ever get it off the ground. I've tried everything I can think of, the server gets plenty of votes every month, I make posts on forums such as Reddit or PlanetMinecraft promoting Factions regularly, and it never seems to improve the player base. Currently we get between 3-8 players on Factions on average, and I'd really like to see that number expand to something more like 25-35. However, as I said I am unsure of what to do at this point. We have paid almost $200 in advertisement in the last month, on places such as Minechat and Minecraft-index, and it hasn't seemed to help the player count at all, if anything it seems slightly worse... The server has unique, interesting plugins, a decent balanced economy, I'm just not sure what we're doing wrong here. I have a budget of at least $500 I can spend to fix the player count, but I'm just not sure of what to do at this point and I was hoping for some advice?
