Hello everyone!

This is Oasis Services, a team of people specialised in different aspects of setting up servers. However, we need more people to join us before we begin launching our service to clients around the web. We are looking for a range of people with different skills in different timezones, but we aren't accepting anybody - we have a set of requirements that need to be met to ensure that our service is at the highest possible quality.

What we are looking for

Developers (this thread)
Builders
Artists
Web Designers
Creative Designers

What would the role of Developer entail?

You would be coding custom plugins for the clients which would make their network or server unique. You would sometimes be working alongside other developers in the team to alow quicker completion of the project. There would be a few requirements you would have to meet;

• Experience with working with databases (especially MySQL)
• Excellent knowledge of Java and the Bukkit / Spigot API (At least 1 year)
• Experience working with NMS and interacting with the protocol.
• Ability to co-operate and work well within a team
• Can document code and use proper conventions.

Would I be paid?

Yes, upon completion of the project you will recieve a share of the amount that the client paid, depending on how much time / work you put into the project.

How to apply

Provided you meet the requirements, shoot us a private message on these forums and we can agree something. If you have any questions, please don't be afraid to ask either by private message or in a message on this thread.

If you meet most of the requirements but not all and are interested, shoot us a private message also, and we'll be happy to try and work something out.

High performance, consistent uptime and fast support. Minecraft hosting that just works.

"Yes, upon completion of the project you will receive a share of the amount that the client paid, depending on how much time / work you put into the project."

As I'm sure you're aware, services that take a share of the developer's pay aren't always optimal. However, they usually at least give a number. How large of a percent does the developer receive? And "it depends" is not a good answer, as that just gives you the freedom to take more if you "deem it appropriate" or such. A solid number of "this is how much you get, always" would be good, and team-based work being obviously different if there's multiple developers on the same project.

It really does depend on what percentage of the work requires custom plugins. Say the server only consisted of a few custom plugins, but needed a lot of other stuff custom, the developers would get paid less than they would if it was a completely custom code server.

However, I can say that it would be between 20% and 50% being given to the developers, as development is one of the biggest parts of running a server.

You're correct, development is one of the biggest parts of running a server. Which is why I'm surprised that you'd say there's a maximum of 50% of the profit in it for the dev. What you're saying with that is "no matter how much work you do for the server in terms of custom plugins, you'll only ever be doing at most half of the work on the server", which I find very hard to believe given that a sizeable custom plugin suite can take into the double digits in terms of hours, and I severely, severely doubt that any kind of non-development server setup work could take that long, not in terms of actual labor.

Whilst development is one of the biggest parts of the creating a server, it is also not the only part. We still require other positions, such as the roles we are looking to fill within the service. We are a setup service, so our services do not always require custom plugins to be developed, which is why we said it would depend on the work put in by yourself & other roles within the team. Whilst we said a 50% maximum profit, this could vary, as this value is a rough estimate which was quickly calculated, and might not be very accurate.[DOUBLEPOST=1501842747][/DOUBLEPOST]We still have high demand for people in this category!

Yeah, and you're always going to be in high demand if you only offer 50% of profits to developers.
That's for a setup that mostly contains premade plugins that would need to be configured and builds that would need to be built. As we are now very well aware, if the server has a higher amount of custom aspects a higher proportion of the money would be offered to the developers involved.
