PHP Development? Raspberry Pi? SCHOOL PROJECT

Hey everyone,

I'm looking for some information regarding PHP development. I understand that I will require a web server to be setup to use this for my school project, as such I'm looking for some advice/tips on the best method of hosting it.

I'd much prefer to purchase a one time thing than pay a monthly subscription i.e a Raspberry Pi, however, I would like to know if this would be suitable for my desires.

Desires:
- Hosted from home. Hosting services (if I have to ;-
- Ability to connect from a school system/laptop while on the school network. (I'm looking in to getting unrestricted access).
- Ability to modify files and such on the web server.
- Highish performance, random crashes will cause issues with the coursework progress.

All possible on a Raspberry PI, I have 2 hosted at home. One for databases, and the other for web servers. However if you want more than one domain setup, its quite hard.

I'd be looking for a simple one website which can manage my project. Would I need multiple to store data in MYSQL and such?

Also, would you be able to recommend a suitable model and any "kit"?
