How realistic would running an mc server off an OVH VPS be? I mean it could also double as a web server but I have a feeling it might be lacking in CPU power a bit causing lag. Has anyone been successful at something like this before? If not then I'll go with a server host instead since that'll be better anyways

High performance, consistent uptime and fast support. Minecraft hosting that just works.

Why's it bad? I'd assume it would work OK for a small-medium size server. Their new servers use new dual E5 CPUs, RAID-10 SSDs, and they probably have some optimizations.
Yeah, I'm not sure what the actual clockspeeds would be, as with MC the higher the better so it seems like kinda a mixed bag right now

Their new SSD vps's if you get the 8 gig minimum should run 1 server with 30-40 plugins max just fine.

Thanks! Yeah, I was looking into running a MC server and also web server hosting a website and forums with MySQL and PHP and all that on the same server. What would you say the max players it can hold would be? I think it would be around 50-60 players max given the amount of plugins and other stuff going on as well

I would say probably more like 30-40, but it would be a good way to get started.

Yeah capping the player limit around there sounds good, and yeah it would be a nice way to get started to then move to a dedicated server and stuff

Last time I had an OVH VPS it was using an AMD CPU with a low clockspeed and had disk IO issues, but I hear they're stepping them up so it might be worth trying
