Rainbow usernames

Hello there!

So yeah, it's been suggested several times to add rainbow usernames. Since at the moment MC-Market can use all financial support it can get, I've decided to consider this.

I was thinking of adding it and giving users 2 options.

1. You can pay for the rainbow quarterly. Every time it expired, you'd have to buy it again.
2. You can pay a larger one time price.

So BOTH options would be put available. This feature is purely to support MC-Market and is nothing but cosmetic.

What approach or price would you guys like to see?

I obviously want this to be fairly unique but at the same time want to make it affordable.

I agree 85% the extra 15% I don't agree with is. About how this is nothing like a server. This site has been getting ddosd a lot and they used our donation money to fix that. Some CPU storage/space and so on. Do you think Devs do this for free? Nothing is free in this world bro. But then again the owner recently paid Mick a fuck ton of money probably. It's also the same for spigotMC

DDoS protection is $100.
Storage and space? I believe they get free hosting by showing everyone that Adsense. If not hosting a forums should not cost more then a server's host. If storage wise/cpu it's still not a lot.

This forum makes $500-2.5k.

Why do you have to sell the rainbow name on a monthly/weekly/yearly basis? Can't you just sell it permantely? Or is this to ensure that you can always get money from the community who likes to have a nice colorful name which will gain you nothing except attention.

Why not give it to users who deserve it, being active, friendly, helping out the community, etc.

Lastly, why do you need more money? It's not like this is a server where you need constant updates/upgrades.

Yes, yes he is. As of yet, you haven't showed any support for the idea of giving the rainbow name for reasons other than money.

Interesting. I think a rainbow colored name should be based upon how long of active member you are. Why does everything have to revolve around money. This being a earned thing would increase activity and potentially get more users onto the site. Don't you think?

Yeah, that's not a bad idea. Perhaps there could be two ways to get it? Pay some money or be active on the forums. Interesting idea.

That's very well true. The money this forum makes relies on users actively using the forum. Encouraging forum activity is something that should definitely be considered.

It's alittle debatable but I'm not the owner or know a lot about the mechanics behind the site. But the spigot owner has told me his side before. So I just assumed it's the same here.

That's spigot, spigot is completely different than MCMarket. Yes I know how much this forums roughly makes, it made the most during Black Friday because of 50% off and people like Tilt and Aschorren donated for all the medals.

Even though I've received quite a lot community support for this, I've decided not to implement it for now.
I'm working on a decent alternative which allows you to customize your username in other ways.
