Hello,
This has been an issue for myself, but I’m sure others have also found it being an issue, often users use the reputation system as a way to direct anger (yes I’ve got first hand experience of being a victim of this), and it isn’t being used as a way to actually leave informative feedback for the said user, rather users use it as as a scoreboard and if they’re not happy with something, will simply turn to the rep page and leave a negative rep. In my situation, a user who had never dealt with me, who I had never provided any services for, was able to use the reputation system to brand me as ‘toxic’ simply because of a reply I left on their thread. This is in no way what the reputation system was integrated for and in no way an appropriate, relevant or informative source of information to look back on and use.
I know we can dispute a rep after it as been given, but that takes time (both for staff and users) and this step could stop the majority of disputes I’m sure. I think once a rep has been left, it should go in a queue, and it is quickly looked over by staff, if it seems genuine and doesn’t seem to breach reputation guidelines and rules, then it is approved, however if it is clearly in breach of the guidelines and rules, or has no grounds, or is just irrelevant then it should be declined.
Interested to hear what people think!
Thanks,
Matt
