Engaging in conversation with members also helps build status and getting outta that "random" category. Conversations could be via premium+ chat box, threads, or PMs.

I'd say something like offering simple (or advanced) services that don't take too long yet please the client. If the service isn't good / met to expectations you probably will not gain rep. Make sure it is all good quality. Another way I know some people do is buy services for really cheap even if they don't need it just to get the rep 4 rep. Personally don't recommend the second one as it is a bit scummy but yeah.
