I thought this would be better in a few ways no? someone has a dedi lying aound i wont have to share cpu usage etc.

Not really, getting a VPS on a host will allow you to have a dedicated ip with a trusted hosting and support with panel, etc... hosting on a random dedi well you dont have panel you dont know if the person knows how to virtualize well and you probably will have to share the ip with the dedi owner
Just search for a hosting offering dedicated CPU or VDS wich is what you want, dedicated CPU wich you dont have to share and has all the good features...
