I think it depends on the country. I feel like reopening schools in the US, especially full time, is just a bad idea. There are some cities/states that could do it because their current count of cases and the size of their student body might be smaller, but I know with schools in other more densely populated places and with more active cases, I can't think that it will go well.

US just recently had 55-56k cases in 1 day too and as of how things are looking, I don't have a lot of hope that the spread will change that much, at least not by when school has to reopen. I know there were some ideas for a hybrid plan with both virtual and in-person which might be okay but I still don't believe that schools can make all students wear a mask and/or socially distance all the time.

Virtual classes might be boring and hard to focus with but at least for the first few months of the school year, I think they are just the better and safer option (which in my opinion is what really matters) for most people in the US.

Virtual classrooms have been extremely boring and can't compete with in person teaching. Especially for college students paying large amounts for degrees + low energy w virtual classrooms.

COVID-19 been dieing down so its fine most 1st world countries have little cases and the chance for children to really pass it round is low.

you my friend are out of touch with reality.

dying down dying down.

If you're in the united states it's a horrible choice to reopen schools. Just about every where else in the world is only able to do it because they were able to wear masks and social distance which is something us Americans struggle to understand and grasp the concept of so our cases are still rising. We won't be able to get over this virus by then and so opening schools will just put a bunch of the children and the families they go home to in danger.
The US doesn't really value education. It's sad. Most teachers get paid like SHIT. I don't understand how politicians want to "invest in the younger generations for the future" if we aren't dedicating more funds to education.

In my state, I have a few ideas as to what could happen.

- Full time online
- 2 half days per week in school, other online.
- Alternate students(half go at x time half go at z time)

I'm really hoping for full time online. It allows me to get things done much faster, do my own thing, etc. If it's not full time online, I hope it's full time in school.

At least in the US, one of the most interesting results of the slow re-opening campaign is the varied responses in different regions.

For example, my friend who is going to Long Beach is having his fall semester entirely remotely and online, my semester on the other hand in a much more urban and dense environment is planning to have me in person for over half my classes.

It seems to me like it's a coin toss on who gets to go to campus and who doesn't. My read is that these return decisions aren't really being made for infection control and more in the other interests of the schools.

Having classes online is exhausting. I somehow failed to wake up with my 10 back-to-back alarms and missed my first few classes, and now I'm on this thread waiting for my next class to begin. There's no way online classes and I go together, and I doubt it's much different with a lot other students. I'm planning to take my virtual classes more seriously however because I have my Cambridge exams coming up soon and I'm not exactly the most attentive with attending a class through a computer screen. But again, as much as I can't live without going out considering I'd be hanging out with friends every day in a week, I don't want my friends to get the virus and I heard it increases chances of transmission in crowds I believe and this is ironic for me to think about because everytime I tried to go out this quarantine I would argue with my family about how hiding from the virus is worse than getting infected, and 'if i get it i get it'.

Hence both virtual classes and irl classes have their own goodies. I just think schools should delay academic exams or at least not grade them as students need to adjust to the new system in order to be able to go with it before getting graded. Bruh or what about they close down all schools until everything goes back to normal  but I seriously don't think I can pass exams like this even as as someone who used to top a lot of his classes, I don't think it would be possible for me to maintain the same performance in classes as I had irl, but I really hope I can adjust to whatever system they decide on because I don't think it would be possible to reinstate teaching students. As much as I hate schools, I appreciate my friends there and understand the importance of my education (but mostly my friends)

Virtual classes is the safest option, yeah. A risk is still a risk. I also think people need to give a thought to parents would think. Obviously for parents, safety is a extremely high priority for their children, and even a slight risk is enough to stop them from sending their kids to school.

Curious what ya'll think about schools reopening in the fall. Well, if they do. Personally, I don't like school, also all the risks blah blah blah, so I'd prefer to keep it virtual.
In my country, online class will be continue on September bcz when I finish homework, I have more time for yourself then when i am going to school... On the another side I am not happy bcz i miss so much friends and I didn't see them in a while since this situation happen with corona virus...

Right now, my local school district is talking about a AB schedule, and having schools closed on Fridays to allow for full school cleaning every F-Sun. I personally am a big fan of school, for a lot of people it provides a really good support structure, and that is part of the urgency with my local school district because a lot of the people suffer from uncontrollable problems such as mental health, or their family is low income, and for a lot of people school feels like a safe place. So unfortunately in this world we live in, school provides more support than home. I think for that reason my school district will open regardless of if cases go up.
