Make a server list Page on mcm.

Pros
  • Get more members
  • More money from premium slots
  • More visitors
  • Mcm will be so much cooler
Cons
  • Costs alot
  • More stuff to manage
The larger MC-Market's community grows, the larger MC-Market can grow.
I think this would be a great way to expand in a little way.
We already host advertisements.
Because this is a minecraft market, minecraft server slots will fit right in, and are certain to get a lot of use.
It would get a lot of use because it is relevant to our overall theme, making money via minecraft.
This would not change us, simply open more doors for our users to generate money from, which is what MC-Market is all about.

There's no reason why we should have to stay small, and stay limited.
Expanding in this way would allow MCM as a whole to generate revenue from this untapped potential, as well as the users who purchase a slot. By getting players, or possibly renting out slots to other people. Depends really. There are a lot of possibilities.
Either way, I can only see this helping MCM grow and prosper into the successful home of minecraft sales and trades that I know it can be.

I'm all for it.
Though, open to hear any counter opinions.

This is a minecraft market, not a server list website.
Then why is stuff like off topic and you can sell steam stuff, shoutbox this isn't mc market related things. But we still have them. And this is mc related.

Keyword "Market" means you can buy stuff. Server list you dont buy anything, you just see servers. (besides ads)
Yes but you said minecraft market.

I think there are enough server lists already in this world :)

Now an actual reason: I have access to statistics like where the majority of our traffic comes from and is interested in. I think there's no real potential for a server list here.

They are becoming a more and more common thing. People are starting them left and right because they believe they can make money. Unless you're willing to spend some good money on SEO, it's unlikely your server list will go anywhere.

There are a lot of trashy server lists.
What is a server list though?
A list of advertisements.
What makes a server list successful?
Having a lot of people that frequent it.
Why would we have to be like every other server list out there and look to get visitors through google searches?
We have a massive community right here full of people who play minecraft.
They don't need to look on google for a server, we can provide them with a list of servers by server owners who's businesses are located right here on MCMarket.
That's huge.

We are not a server list.
We're successful as MC-Market, and we should stay MC-Market.
So throw away the idea of trying to become a successful server list.
Simply consider the idea of being MC-Market which offers a server list to it's members.
As well as a MC-Market server, or teamspeak, or advertisment slots, which our members already pay to use.
This is no different.
Simply another way for us to expand what we provide to our members, and the income we can generate from and for them.

I love the idea as long as it's just another tab on the navbar. I've always wanted mcm to expand, this + the mcm server is turning us in to a community rather than a strictly business related forums. I like this, it will also mean that we will have more minecraft players unlike half of the forums which are only interested in making money off of the game.

I like the idea BUT:

Would it the traffic it needs to be a good server list?
People can just use high traffic ones like .org.

As suggested in my previous post on this thread, I would not look to compete with other server lists, but simply provide one for our members to use.
If this is implemented, I don't want MCM changing how it does things.
We don't need to become a server list to have a server list.
A large number of people here have a server, and an even larger number of people here play minecraft.
This would be a natural addition to the MCM services we provide.

Why would they use us instead of another server list?
Well, they could most certainly use both. In fact, they'd want to.
More exposure for them.
But here, they have a community.
People we know and trust are here.
Nobody can say the same about .org

You'd much rather show something you're proud of off to your peers than a group of strangers.

I don't even have a server, and I'm excited for MCM to provide this.

I find it fun to tour fellow mcm members' servers. A list with all those servers is not a bad idea. It is not mandatory to put your server on that list so I dont see why this shouldn't be implemented.
