Depends your needs, buying shared hosting is limiting you to a Minecraft server while a VPS will allow you to host TS or a website from it.

If you are interested in shared hosting check out the two sites in my signature, if you are interested in a VPS check out MikeA

Then if you go for a VPS make sure the CPU is good for Minecraft.

I would like to add on top of this to double check the VPS's provider's TOS and AUP (if they have one) to make sure "gameservers" and/or "Minecraft servers" are not on the "We do not allow" list. It also shows if a provider is truthful about allocations or only trying to oversell somewhat (since overselling is much harder to do on most game servers along some other things than just plain old website hosting).
