I have had no problem with the shoutbox moderators at all; anybody who was here on the fateful night two days ago would know that. However, kids are constantly complaining and demanding a reform. I think that the position is already getting saturated, but whatever.

Just about five minutes ago, everybody starts JOKINGLY posting Kappa signs after somebody said "if you put a Kappa at the end of your messages, you can't get banned". This resulted in the common banter of the shoutbox we all know:

But wait.. Anybody posting it will get banned, even though some people only posted it ONCE?

You can see here that MineLife was kicked, after only ONE message using the Kappa symbol AFTER the warning Jack gave everybody. Yet, lulKeith was spamming it REPEATEDLY in very fast successions, and received no ban?

We have to realize that lulKeith was ALREADY breaking a rule by spamming, yet Jack invoked a brand new rule that we are not allowed to "spam" as a whole?

Oh, and even as the bans came out people continued so Jack made the terrifying threat of continuing. Let's just start off here that the majority of the users in the shoutbox only posted the symbol once or twice, not over and over. This is NOT the definition of spam at all, considering the fact that the rules of the shoutbox does not imply that spam can be regarded to an entire group.

Hell, it's so damn vague that Jack should not even be allowed to say that they spammed. Here is the rule, copied vertabim:
  • Do not spam.

Just a few more of the users murdered in the mass genocide of Kappa, on January 18, 2016.

Never forget. #FreeKappa

I'm not trying to go off and say that shoutbox moderators are shit at all, I'm just saying that this was pretty unjust and accurately reflects on the current situation; the moderators all have different views on how to handle situations and some will ban users more harshly than others.

We also have to realize that this position is SATURATED AS FUCK. There has been an illegal thread posted for FOUR HOURS STRAIGHT and it has not been deleted, even after MULTIPLE reports. This just proves how powerless and limited the shout box moderators are, they can only control a tiny fraction of MCM and that only creates more drama. Please, consider redirecting the new staff to global positions so that they can moderate the ENTIRE site TOGETHER.

High performance, consistent uptime and fast support. Minecraft hosting that just works.

I would like to refer everyone to MC-Markets Rules and Guidelines:
http://www.mc-market.org/wiki/rules/

Specifically the Chatbox rules:
3. CHATBOX/SHOUTBOX RULES
The following rules apply to the shoutbox and are expected to be followed when posting messages in the shoutbox.
  1. Do not abuse the tagging feature. Abuse of the tagging feature includes, but is not limited to, excessively tagging a user.
  2. Do not argue with other members in the shoutbox.
  3. Do not attempt to contact staff members via the shoutbox. Use private messages instead.
  4. Do not advertise any servers or websites in the shoutbox.
  5. Do not advertise any products or services in the shoutbox, unless the product or service is one that you are offering on MC-Market in a thread.
  6. In the event you would like to advertise your product or service thread, you may also provide a link to your thread once every 5 minutes.
  7. All Global Rules also apply to the use of the shoutbox.
Please note rule #7, "All Global Rules also apply to the use of the shoutbox."

Now under the Global rules:
  • Follow the instructions of staff members.

I am deeply sorry Shortninja that I wasn't able to kick everyone that broke the rule. There was a lot of spam going on, I've got people spamming my wall (which is now locked), PMs and other messages on Slack. I am sure you understand, thank you for your concern.

Jack Please read the edited spoiler in the OP. I would like to say that the rule you quoted is an example of how the moderators can interpret situations. Us, the users, are not capable of knowing how you guys want to handle a situation and we have not had this treatment before; a situation that we see every day (lightheartedly and accepted) on the shoutbox is now bannable.

And what instructions is this even supposed to imply? Can a user now get banned for not giving up all their money to a staff member after they are told to? That rule is extremely vague and can be wildly misinterpreted.

Hello,

Thank you for addressing your concerns.

Chat flood isn't allowed on MCM. Users aren't honestly understanding that Chat Moderators are considered staff, and when people disrespect them and users don't listen, problems arise.

Gruss

Gruss Not allowed? Please link me the EXACT rule that says so, I have yet to see a rule that accurately describes "chat flood".

And even if it does, it would not have depicted the current situation as it was MANY users doing it, not a single one.

Elaborate on how this is even some-what relevant to those that got banned for posting "Kappa" once.
Oh and, also tell us why lulKeith is STILL not banned after doing this shit for an HOUR.

After 30 minutes (as 1 hour is somewhat excessive for a kick, but it's the minimum admins are able to set in the config - that is being looked into by the devs), I've decided to lift the kickbans.

Thanks to Unquestionable Devon and MineLife for cooperating so well.

Special thanks to Mason for being professional and doing the correct thing (PMing staff concerning the issue).

Theo J I've decided that your kickban will not be lifted now due to your extremely disrespectful and persistent responses, but you can feel free to PM the administration team about it if you feel you do not deserve to wait the final 30 minutes.

Thank you all again.
