The Mission
I run vyprojects, an open-source initiative focused on the VyOS ecosystem. We build version-aware integrations and automation tools to make networking safer and more accessible.A massive part of our mission is VyDocs—our dedicated effort to provide high-quality documentation and resources for the education world. We want to help students and teachers master enterprise-grade networking without the gatekeeping.
We already have a active product VyManager which is a control panel for the otherwise non gui system VyOS. It's already production ready and got quite a bit of interest from the first round of advertising and discord. Alot of people are already deploying it in production! See VyProjects.org for all our concepts and what we want to do going forward! We have big plans and you could be a big part of making it succeed.
The Problem
I’m a developer, not a marketer. I can build the tools and write the technical docs, but I’m "shit" at social media. I need a partner to help tell our story, reach the education sector, and grow our sponsorship base. The Deal (Transparency First)
- Status: This is currently an unpaid volunteer position. * The Goal: We are actively pushing for GitHub Sponsors to cover infrastructure and development time.
- The Future: As soon as we hit our funding milestones, you’ll be the first person on the payroll.
- The Value: You get a "Core Contributor" credit on the project, a glowing professional reference, and a portfolio piece that shows you can market complex, high-level tech and educational resources.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Promote VyDocs: Show the education community (r/homelab, r/networking, student groups) how we are making VyOS easier to learn.
- Translate "Dev-Speak": Turn my technical commits into engaging posts on X (Twitter), LinkedIn, and Discord.
- Sponsor Outreach: Help us reach our $300/mo goal by showing the value we provide to the community.
- Growth: Help bridge the gap between "hardcore networking" and "accessible education."
Who You Are
- A student, hobbyist, or aspiring marketer looking for a real-world project for your resume.
- Someone who appreciates the "Open Source" ethos and wants to help people learn.
- You don't need to be a CCIE, but you should be interested in tech/infrastructure.
