That's because its a five-character hex value meaning it's not a colour...
I thought you would use common sense...
It still can't be used though, so why is it in the examples?

5 colour hex codes are possible, but normally the application will default it to 0 on the end of the hex, making it that colour but different.

It still can't be used though, so why is it in the examples?

This is a relatively minor display issue and given the fact that we're moving to XF2 relatively soon and redeveloping everything from scratch so this will likely not be an issue after the move. Thank you for the report, but this won't be fixed. If it stays as an issue once we move to XF2 then please let us know through another bug report.

I'll move this to the bug report archives.
