Just a quick poll to gauge your opinions, do you think that Mojang will try to lure us with IPv6 support any time soon (say within a year)? Obviously, IPv4 isn't having any problems yet but the internet is always growing and with the 1.9 and 1.10 being really bad (in a lot of peoples opinion) do you think that a future update will have IPv6 support? It could weed out some old minecraft server lists, show who is the better hosts out there, and update minecraft in general. Of course they would still have IPv4 support but imagine. Thanks for voting!

PebbleHost
High performance, consistent uptime and fast support. Minecraft hosting that just works.

Agree with SherRao, IPv6 is not known enough & is even harder to remember.
Already hate these bloody numbers..
Another question is, isn't is possible to run an MC server off an IPv6 using an AAAA record?[DOUBLEPOST=1467251947][/DOUBLEPOST]Also, IPv4 is dying out, if you haven't heard it yet.
The current IPv4 slots left in the world is not enough to run the world on IP's for longer than a couple of years.
So they eventually might have to, I'm not sure..
Regarding remembering, I forgot domains run on IPv4 and IPv6 cant talk to IPv4 as far as I know regarding AAAA but its worth a shot...[DOUBLEPOST=1467252121][/DOUBLEPOST]

Looking upon wikipedia, it should work. But Minecraft cant talk to IPv6 so it still wouldn't work.

Could be possible with some kind of listener plugin, couldn't it?
Would need a really good dev for that tho :p
I don't really think that would work as you would still need a IPv4 IP to connect and a server needs to have a IPv4 IP in the server config to run.

That's also true..
Let's just wait for Mojang to take action then :p
fingers crossed[DOUBLEPOST=1467254258][/DOUBLEPOST]I just realized that most users dont even have IPv6 yet so even if mojang adds it, it would still be useless for servers. Google says only about 12% of people who connect, connect with IPv6 https://www.google.com/intl/en/ipv6/statistics.html so NO time soon will minecraft have IPv6 support. You should see if you even have one here http://test-ipv6.com/
