Praetorian Marines were sailors of the Roman imperial fleet who served in Rome and were responsible for operating the great awning known as the velarium in the Colosseum. Drawing on naval skill with ropes, masts, and rigging, they controlled the canvas covering that shaded spectators during spectacles. They also served as close protection for the emperor and the imperial household when required.
Creative interpretation based off a re-enactment group operating in Rome depicting the Praetorian Guard, though they do use the 'blued' armour.
